If you "just drive by" like another review is suggesting then you'll miss The Rivers of Tennessee Fountain, which, in my opinion, is the best part of the park, especially if you have children. You're allowed to play in the fountain, which is loads of fun. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean considering it's a very public setting. This is a great play for history buffs.
Pros: Fountains
Cons: Not much else to do unless you're a history buff

We particularly love the fountains representing the TN rivers. We take our toddler there to run through and play in the water and experience other children in our community who love to do the same so bring a change of clothes or water attire. There is a train tressel there also where trains often go by which the children love. As a TN native, born and raised, I find all of the factual information about TN to be interesting and am more educated as a result of walking around in the park and fountain area. As my son grows older, I plan to come back so he can learn to love this more urban type of park, right on the edge of downtown Nashville, and more importantly to appreciate TN history. It is very educational, lots of reading to do. An added benefit is the farmer's market next door where families can eat and shop.
Pros: educational, fun fountains to play in, grassy space for picnics, food/shopping next door
Cons: small, in the city, no playgrounds

We recently went to Nahville, and I thought it would be nice to visit Bicentennial Mall. I was kind of dissapointed. It was basically a big patch of grass with a few columns and a cool, rolling ball. On the other side was the timeline, which was pretty neat. I would say you could experience the place with just a drive-by, I wouldn't really reccomend it though.
Pros: Good picnic spot
Cons: Kind of boring

Everyone can pick something they like from chinese to mexican to greek for lunch without having to go different places and it is a great break from a day at the office to spend a few of your lunch break minutes sitting in the park or exploring the WWII memorial and Tennessee historical time line. Sometimes it is just nice to watch the birds and feel the sun.
Pros: inexpensive, multicultural food, location
Cons: gross bathrooms

Visit the Bicentennial Mall, and you won't be doomed to repeat history--you'll love to repeat it. This park hosts a series of monuments harmoniously integrated with nature. And don't look for any shops either. This mall is a place where I wander at a leisurely pace and wonder at how a 9-ton granite globe can rotate on 20 pounds-per-inch water pressure. Tennessee history is alive at this park!
Pros: Free parking
