Editorial Review for Cancun Mexican Restaurant – by Lee Owen

In Short
Cancun is as authentic as a Mexican fern-bar place can be. Soccer moms and soccer players rub elbows with young couples downing margaritas and families chowing on traditional Mexican grub. The chimichanga is popular--hunks of beef or chicken deep-fried inside a crunchy tortilla and covered with white cheese sauce. Steam from fajitas mixes with the live music in the bar/cantina on weekends.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in ALL of Nashville. When we lived in Franklin, we would happily drive the 30 minutes to Bellevue for the Jim Nachos. Now that we live in Texas, we always make a point to get to Cancun when in town. And even though we may live in TX, a place where you would think the Mexican food is fantastic, we have not been able to find anything close to the tastes that we love at Cancun.

This is a place for people who have want the same type "Mexican" food you can get all over Nashville at probably 50-60 other places, with the same flavors and the same basic menu, taylor-made for people who have not experienced anything else. Their Sunday buffet is a feast for big families, and mostly big people, a mexican-style version of a country buffet where everyone piles their plates way-high with chips and starchy cheeze covered food, guaranteed to make you nap the rest of the day. Though the food is only ok, with a close look around you will see that the dining rooms are in disrepair, and the carpets and walls are dirty. The service is fast and polite.

Pros: None when compared to other similar places

Cons: Could be cleaner
