Editorial Review for Bellevue Center – by Justine Schuchard
In Short
"Shopping for the Real World" (the mall's catchy slogan) means over 90 specialty stores, plus chains like The Gap, Victoria's Secret, Eddie Bauer and Godiva. It's anchored by department stores Dillard's, Sears and Macy's. Restaurants range from fast food (Chick-Fil-A) to relaxing full service (Princeton's Grille). The kids' area in CenterCourt is a gigantic, soft-board, climb-all-around dreamland for excited kids and shopping mommies and daddies.

Bellevue Center needs to take a new direction - again. Whoever decided to change the tennants to a lower-class selection was... silly. Simply put, you do not build a mall for poor people - they don't have the income to spend. Hecht's should close and be rennovated to become a Lord and Taylor (same parent company) and Dillard's should really consider beefing up their younger/hipper clothes. The mall is very nice and has a great location; they just need some direction, preferably up. I like the mall - I just hope that the new management makes it a destination instead of a duplication. Here are some ideas: Club Monaco, Banana Republic, Crate and Barrel, Parisian, Nordstrom, Goldsmith's - a renewed anchor-base would help a lot. Maybe a full-service hotel like a Hyatt or a Westin would help, something like the Winfrey at Riverchase Galleria in Birmingham. Do something - please!
Pros: Area, ample expansion room
Cons: prev. mgmt. bad, losing stores daily

Bellevue Center was full of great shops and places to eat when it first opened but even though it has few stores, it has alot of empty spaces. Stores are closing and there is not alot of great places to eat over there these days. The only thing that Bellevue Center is hardly surviving is Dillards, Hects and Sears. If all three of them close, the center would be in trouble. Major changes need to made at Bellevue Center to bring the people back otherwise, it would be a huge empty space.
Pros: Dillards, Sears, Hects
Cons: less smaller stores, less places to eat, No clean restrooms
