Better Than Expected. My husband and I recently ate here for our anniversary and also walked around to tour the hotel after dinner. I was expecting the typical higher dollar restaurant experience but was pleasantly surprised. I thought Capitol Grille felt like a smaller dining room yet still polished and elegant. Our server was very attentive and professional. I had the onion bisque for the first course and it was likely the best soup I've ever had. I had the pork chops for the main course and they were also good but somewhat tough. I enjoyed the best dessert I've ever had my entire life - the coconut cake. It was exceptional and different than any other. I agree with another reviewer who stated they'd like to take the pastry chef home to live with them. Overall great food, great service, and an interesting place to go if you want to try something different for a special occasion.…
Great hotel BUT... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
well. Food is good, servings are slight, staff is arrogant and I overheard them bickering over a table because they knew the party was a big tipper... tacky and they have roaches the size of my foot...
Classy but Lacking. The atomsphere here is excellent! Unfortunately I picked the wrong thing to eat for every course except dessert. If you are a scallops fan though- you probably would have really enjoyed what I ordered. The creme brulee was the highlight for me and also the great wine list! For an added perk, Gweneth Paltrow was there the same night. On the downside, our server was very awkward and really didn't sell the menu like I hoped. I had never been and wanted a little bit more guidance and explanation than he was able to give. Also another server there looked like she had just rolled out of bed. When I go to a upscale restaurant like this I want servers to match. Maybe it was because we were there on a Sunday and they were very slow but I was just not at all impressed with the service. I would have really just called this dinner experience a disaster if it hadn't been for the fabulous dessert and who I was spending a relaxing Sunday night with. I will probably try this place out again sometime but not anytime soon I'm sure but I would recommend this restaurant to someone looking for a romantic meal.…
Almost good. I took my sister, who is in culinary school, in hopes of offering her a taste of high end southern cuisine. The abiance was very old-school southern with peachy brochade and heavy carving. Check. The service was fabulous. check. Unfortnately , the food *could* have been great but it was seriously lacking in salt. Now, I hate salty cooking. I rarely add salt in my own, personal, home cooking. But a little salt is rather important. You might counter, "well then, why not add your own salt". Ah, I would have *if * salt had been provided, but the chef was not intending his diners to add their own salt for salt was not on the tables. The desserts, however, were fabulous - beautiful, interesting and just the right amount of heavy. We wanted to bundle up the pastry chef and take them home with us.…
