In Short – White tablecloths and linen napkins compensate for the strip-mall location and standard-issue decor. The crowd? One look at the SUV-crammed parking lot says it all: families and Green Hills suburbanites. The selection is huge, and it sticks to familiar favorites in the Szechuan, Hunan and Mandarin styles. There are also many trusty standbys like governor's chicken, moo shu pork and sweet-and-sour shrimp. Prices are reasonable, with seafood costing a bit more.
great lunch value

August Moon has one of the best values at lunch in Green Hills. The quality is quite average and the insipid pseudo-Chinese music piped in might make you gulp down your food, but you will feel quite satisfied for several hours. The steamed dumplings are fabulous. As others have said, this is also a great take-out place. Lots of food for little money.
Great Atmosphere, for a child of the 80's

The music they play in the background reminds me of old nintendo games (or perhaps old nintendo games use traditional chinese music?). Anyhow, the restaurant is rarely crowded, and the booths are private, and the artwork is pretty.
The food is fine, but the atmosphere is where this place really shines.
Not Impressed
by ChineseFoodRocks
Maybe I have too high of standards for Chinese food. But as a Chinese grew up eating traditional Chinese foods and living in the Bay Area (San Jose/San Francisco) in California where there are thousands of Chinese restaurants, many specialized in one type of Chinese cooking styles, I have to say I haven?t found a Chinese restaurant in Nashville that I ?want? to go back to.
The food at August Moon is basically put ting all ingredients in the wok, stir fry it, and add pre-made sauce which is way too sweet ? even though I ordered a spicy dish ? so some of the vegetable is overcooked. The dinnerware is very cheap, the service is slow, and I have to wait for hot tea after I am half done with my plate.
I am new to Nashville. If any Chinese reads this review, PLEASE let me know where I can find a Chinese restaurant serving ?traditional? Chinese foods.
