Disappointing – Me and my husband were very excited to stay at this hotel during our visit to Nashville. It had come very reccomended from friends living in the area. Walking into the hotel was admittadly very impressive. The atrium and ponds are impressive. Then got to our room. . . .
When we arrived to our first room, I first noticed that it smelled like smoke - we requested a non-smoking room, but were given a smoking room. Just great. So I call the front desk, and they offered to send up a maid to "deodorize" the room. The maid came up after 20 minutes and sprayed some glade, which didn't really solve the problem. It only made the room smell like potpourri and smoke. I called the front desk again, and after some time they agree to send us to a non-smoking room that they found that had "just opened up".
We arrive to the second room. I thought that we had mistakenly gone into an occupied room at first because the bed wasn't made, i first noticed. So I call the front desk AGAIN and they tell me that there was no mistake, this is our room. The maids just hadn't been in to clean it yet, and we coulden't go to another room because the hotel was OVERSOLD! Who ever heard of a hotel that checked people into dirty rooms!? So we waited an hour and a half for a maid to show up - I coulden't even take a shower after being on a plane all day because there was HAIR on the soap in the bathroom!
When she finally did come and clean it, it really didn't matter at all. The bedspread was stained, and the room didn't look like it had been remodeled since 1985. The chairs were worn, and the whole place was dingy. For our trouble we got a night free and coupons to "Rachel's Buffet" (which was something like a Shoney's buffet, but without the good food. Yuck! Hope you like cold eggs.)
I've stayed in some roadside motels that were nicer than this, for a lot less. Save your money and stay at a holiday inn. This place is an overrated tourist trap. NOT RECOMENDED!
Beautiful Resort – My wife and I look forward to coming back year after year. We've been lost inside also but what better place to be "lost" Never once ran into anyone that was not friendly or more than willing to help. Delta Lounge and Jack Daniels Lounge are very good. We'll be back in July, 277 days left to wait!!!!!!!!
Great atmosphere – This is my husband and I's go to place for special occasions. The scenery is great. The food is really good and the service is first rate. The best thing is their brunch which is fantastic. Especially the cheese blintz.
Worst $410 I Have Ever Spent – I have lived in nashville for 14 years and the first (and only) time i stayed at the Opryland Hotel it was my Honeymoon night and i have to say it was a horrible experience! We arrived around 2 am and when we got to our room we realized that our "suite" did not have a bed in it. We called down to the front desk and they kindly informed us that the bed pulls down from the wall. The so called murphy bed was a piece of plywood with a 2 inch thick mattress on it. Not only was the bed crappy but there werent even sheets on the mattress! We once again called the front desk and they sent up a maid that basically asked us to look and see if there were sheets in the closet so we could make our own bed! Remember, its our honeymoon night- i'm still in my wedding gown and they want me to make the bed that i payed 410 dollars to sleep in!! The water for the shower took about 10 minutes to get hot, which was okay because it took 30 minutes for our room service (sandwiches) to arrive. After my honeymoon night at Opryland i can honestly say that i will never stay at any Gaylord hotel again and i would not recommend it to ANYONE!
BEST GARDENS – WELL THE TRADITIONAL ROOMS/ ATRIUM VIEW ARE NOT WORTH THE PRICE, I RECOMEND STAYING AT THE HOTEL PRESTON 5 MINS AWAY AND DRIVE TOUR THE GARDENS.I JJUST THINK THAT FOR $250.00 YOU SHOULD GET A NICE ROOM WITH NICE BEDDING AND IT WASNT. IT WAS JUST LIKE WHAT YOU WOULD SEE AT A 'COUNTRY INN' WERE YOU PAY ALOT LESS. I WILL SAY THAT THE GARDENS ARE MAGNIFISANT, TRULY!!!!! MAKE SURE YOU WARE WALKING SHOES!!! THEY HAVE A COOOL LITTLE BOAT RIDE, $9 FOR ADULTS, AND $8 FOR ADULT HOTEL GUEST. I CANT REMEMBER THE CHILD PRICE. BUT CHILDREN AND ADULTS WILL BOTH LOVE IT. THERE IS ALSO A COOL WATER/LIGHT SHOW THAT IS AWSOME, ITS FREE. AND THERE ARE COOL SHOPS, WITH RESONABLE PRICES, BUT I WOULDNT GO JUST THERE FOR MY SHOPPING. THE "OLD HICKORY STEAK HOUSE RESTRUANT" WILL JIPP YOU OUT OF MONEY FAST THAN YOU CAN BLINK!! I HATED IT AND IN FACT I CRIED AT THE RESTURANT. WHEN I GOT MY SALAD I REALIZED I PAID $10 FOR A HEAD OF LETTUCE CHOPPED IN HALF, I EVEN TOOK A PICTURE OF IT, IT WAS SO FUNNY!! LITTERALY!!!!MY HUSBAND ORDERED A 16 OUNCE PRIM RIB STEAK FOR $26.OO AND THEY DONT INCLUDE SIDES. SO YOU HAVE TO ORDER YOUR SIDES AT ANOTHER PRICE. WE ORDER SHRIMP COCKTAIL AND IT CAME WITH 3 SHRIMP AND THAT WASR $14.50. RRRRIIIIPPPP OFF!!! IT WAS REDICULOUS!!!! WE ENDED UP SPENDING $86.45 FOR OUR MEAL. THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO TAKE OFF MY UNTOUCHED SALAD. ALL WE HAD WAS HIS STEAK, SIDE OF MAC-N-CHEESE, GLASS OF WINE $7.OO, SHRIMP COCKTAIL, AND A BEER. ONCE AGAIN REDICULOUS!!!!!!!! I WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN, BUT I WOULD PAY THE 10.00 FOR PARKING AND SPEND THE DAY ENJOYING THE "FREE" ENTERTAINMENT!!!
Love this place..... – Well, my husband and I have visited Opryland Hotel for the past 3 years for our anniversary and we love it. We always get an awsome room, never have to pay to park and the service is very good. On one of our trips we took our 2 year old son who just happened to drop his shoe off of one of the bridges into the waterfall...(was kinda funny) and we told an employee who got the garden people geared up in waders to search for the shoe. Pure entertainment! Also, we love the mall and the aquarium is superb (food and surroundings). So there is plenty to do and as always - it can be a fun as you want it to be. Enjoy Nashville!
Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center – I can only rave about this place! The rooms were immaculate, the linens were nice, and the beds were comfortable! The property was astonishing, there was so much to see and do on or near the facility, I especially enjoyed walking in the garden. There are several restaurants on and near the property to choose from. Nashville and the surrounding area offer a variety of historical places, arts, and interesting museums not to mention shopping. There was so much to see and do, and not enough time to get it done! We just had way too much fun our last trip to Nashville and plan to return soon! Will we stay at this property again, that would be an emphatic, yes!
With lush gardens, sparkling waterfalls and plenty of entertainment, this resort provides a fun getaway. – In Short
From dancing fountains to cascading waterfalls, this vast hotel maintains its water theme. There's even a river running through the Delta, the hotel's expansion. The hotel boasts a staggering 600,000 square feet of meeting space, including the Ryman Exhibit Hall, the nation's largest single-level, self-contained exhibition facility in a hotel. Tourists and locals looking for a weekend getaway enjoy rooms that include a modem data port, personal coffee makers and hair dryers.
An Awesome Experience – The entire experience was incredible. The food was awesome and the service was too. We will be returning soon!
Like Disney in Tennessee – Come prepared because there is more to do than you expect, but this place is fabulous. The new spa is a real treat and the recently added indoor pool and fitness center are amazing. We stayed in a newly renovated room...this is not the Opryland that I remembered. Classy, and fun! With some great restaurants on site, we never had to leave.
