Editorial Review for Bookman Rare and Used Books – by Jonathan Harwell Jr.

In Short
For true book lovers, the journey to a place that stocks 150,000 pre-owned volumes will provide its own reward. Both well-thumbed paperbacks and more pristine hardcovers fill the shelves, sometimes two-deep. The store boasts a large mystery section, matched only by its expansive general and science fiction collections. Take a coffee break before browsing the well- warren aisles, rooms and alcoves for the cooking, art, history and women's issues sections.

Whiling away a whole Sunday afternoon is very easy when I visit my favorite used bookstore, Bookman Bookwoman, located in Nashville's lively and hip university area. I can spend hours in the local history aisle alone. The store's selection of hard-to-find and collectable volumes by notable writers of local interest is amazing, and if you don't see what you're looking for, owners Saralee and Larry will gladly locate a copy for you. I've found the service to be unfailingly accommodating and pleasant. Some stacks are double shelved, adding to the fun of the hunt. I highly recommend dropping in Bookman Bookwoman to poke around in the stacks the next time you're in Hillsboro Village.

Pros: prices, service, selection

This quaint store has both old and current titles. If you are looking for a fun way to spend some time then browse the stacks. They have not only older, used books, but current titles. Many leather bound books if that is your fancy. Pay for a hard back what you'd pay for a new paperback. What's wrong with this picture??? Nothing. The owners are willing to help with titles, authors, topics. You may not know every book in the store, but they do. Great place to take out of town guests while strolling in "The Village". Friends from other cities always remember their visit to Bookman...and want to go back.

Pros: great selection, good prices, old and new titles
