Sunday Brunch. I have been to Boscos several times, typically to drink their beer which I think is pretty good. Had a friend want me to meet him for Sunday Brunch. I had a Blood Mary and Shrimp & Grits. Now I have had Shrimp in Grits at many places, regardless of whether it is low country or more cajun style, it has always been shrimp in a tomato based sauce over the grits. This version had no sauce, just 6 30-45 count (small) shrimp pan sauteed in spices over about 8oz of grits. It was a PATHETIC presentation. Overpriced at $15 and barely enough to fill up a 6 year old. I basically thought it was laughable. And they brought no bread. When I asked for bread, they brought cold french bread and no butter or olive oil or anything to put on it. Again, my only word is pathetic. It was a Bad interpretation, it was overpriced, and I was underserved.
One of Nashville's treasures. My family loves this restaurant. We don't even drink beer! (I prefer the wine). The food is consistently good. Never had a bad meal there. Our favs - club sandwich, blackened grouper sandwich (amazing), pizza (all are great, fresh, creative), burgers. My husband and I come by ourselves and bring kids, or meet friends. It's busy and exciting to go there, but not too loud to talk. Big booths, nice bar and louge area, great staff. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Love the beer and the food. Bosco's is great. Great beer, good food. Have been going there over 15 years! Love it :)
Typcial Brewery. Went there for first time with family. A family member took us. Friendly service. Quick to be seated and food was fast. Beer was very good. Oveall a nice solid place but nothing too wowing. Just your typical brew place, but the food is probably a bit better than some other brew places.
Great beer, food is merely OK.
I'm a huge Boscos fan, although I usually go to the Franklin location, now that it's closer. When I lived near Hillsboro, I was there 3-4 times a week.
The beer is always great. The Flaming Stone is unique (although not my taste), the IPA is fantastic (and even better in the cask), and the dark beers are always great: Isle of Skye, London Porter, Schwarzbier.
The food, however, is merely OK. The pizzas are a nice complement to the beer, and should be only considered bar food. I wouldn't consider Boscos for a romantic night out for an entree. They do upper-scale bar food, but lower-scale entrees. Stick to the pizzas and the sandwiches and you'll be fine. The portabella club is great, and the ribeye sandwich is superb. The salads are pretty good too.
On the flip side, the tamale is a turd, as is the calzone. Most of the appetizers are very good, with the exception of the spinach dip. It used to be the best spinach artichoke dip I'd ever eaten, but they changed the recipe about 2004, and now it tastes like spinach dishwater.
Bottom line: go for the beers and the small dishes. Don't go for a company dinner or a romantic night out.
On a side note: I wish they'd fill growlers. I'd ONLY buy Boscos beer if they did. Frankly, I don't think it would hurt the business either. I'd still go there for the atmosphere, the food and the beer.
we love boscos. My wife and I went to Boscos on Saturday afternoon after the game for a quick bite to eat. I believe it was the manager on duty who actually sat us and she was extremly pleasant. Our server a tall young man with a shaved head was great!!!! He told us his name but I have forgotten. My wife was unclear about a wine choice and after speaking with the young woman with long brown hair, she received a taste of two in order to decide. My wife also has an alergy and the young woman managing again came back out to our table and guided her through the menu and the preparation and cooking of each item she was thinking of ordering. The manager actually dropped off our order herself and came back to make sure my wife was okay. By far the best service we have seen in Nahsville. We love Boscos!
always a disappointment. I used to go here a lot because my co-workers always want to go, but I go reluctantly. For the price I'm paying, I don't get enough food. And there is always strange ingredients in the food. The muffaletta has carrots (?), too many olives, and the meat to bread ratio shows bread the clear winner. I had the grilled cheese lunch special yesterday. There was so much gorgonzola (ick) that I couldn't even finish it. Their pizza is lacking in amount, I get more with a frozen pizza for $1.00. Finally, the service is horrible in the bar area. Expect your server to ignore you from the minute you walk in. Sorry Bosco's, I've given you plenty of chances for redemption, and I always leave completely disappointed that I just spent $8 on unappetizing food.
Affordable and Enjoyable. I truly enjoyed my experience at Boscos. The food was great! I had the fiesta style shrimp pizza for my entree, and we shared the ahi tuna tacos as an appetizer. My boyfriend had a buffalo chicken pizza which was also quite good. We started out with the beer sampler so we could decide which was best! Bosos is in a beautiful building (the bathroom is nice, too) and is good for larger groups as the booths are enormous. I recommend this for a first date place or just an after work get together. They have trivia and drink specials during the week as well.
Love Boscos. First time customer of Boscos in the Village. We came in due to long wait at other restaurants in village we will be back for not only brunch but for dinner and lunch as well. Great atmosphere and staff seemed to have fun while they were working.
