I initially had a great experience
buying my dress at Village Bridal. I was in love with my dress and the owner was so nice! That all changed when the dress came in an alterations began. The dress was way too short for my torso and my breasts would come up out of my dress every time I raised my arms. They never measured my torso when purchasing the dress, and turns out I either needed a different size or a different dress entirely as this DID NOT FIT my body type. The seamstress was pushy and not helpful. She did not have any suggestions as to how to fix the dress other than just not to raise my arms all night. SEVERAL alterations appointments later and 1 week before my wedding I decided to take my dress to another seamstress and pay a rush order (as much as the original dress cost) to get my dress fixed! The seamstress at Village Bridal had done alterations incorrectly as well- I had already paid her to take the dress in, but the new seamstress had to take the dress in an additional inch and a half!!!!!! She also had to further hem the dress which I had already paid the Village Bridal seamstress to do. Those are pretty basic alterations if you ask me. And I never received a refund or apology. Do not trust the seamstress at Village Bridal!!!! Ended up costing me a lot of stress, time, and money!

This place was absolutely terrible!!! They ruined my dress and then tried to blame it on me, the bride, saying I had gained weight and that the dress was difficult to work with! I bought my dress at a shop out of state but they carried the designer so I thought that their alterations lady could handle it. She definitely couldn't!! By the end of my SIX different fiitings, my dress was 2.5 inches shorter (when it was already a perfect length) and have a huge fold at my waist. And now they are still refusing to refund us for the cost of the alterations and the cost of the dress.
This was the first shop I went to after getting engaged, and I didn't have an appointment. I literally just wanted to look, but apparently that was not appreciated. There was no one else in the shop, and they made it seem like they were doing me a favor even letting me look. Then I had to go through each dress with a woman who literally waited for me to react to each dress, and I do not like being put on the spot. Super nerve racking. They were rude, made me feel embarrassed, and were speaking in Russian and LAUGHING in the back when I was getting dressed. FYI Girls: I could hear you. I had such a rough time. It was a nighmare experience.
Disastrous experience. The nightmare started when Village Bridal measured my daughter for a dress that they ordered for her at the shop. When the dress came in it was very apparent that they had botched the measurements because the torso was a foot longer than it should have been. The waistline fell somewhere on her hips, etc. At this point it was too late to reorder another dress and we were assured the dress could be altered so we did not seek compensation for the dress. Upon completion of alterations the dress was returned to us in horrible condition: the lining no longer laid flat under lace overlay; there was black grease on the lining from the sewing machine; the dress was completely askew and did not hang straight any longer. WARNING: DO NOT TRUST YOUR SPECIAL MEMORIES WITH THIS STORE!!
I am the New Owner of Village Bridal!.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Margaret Veness and I am the new owner of Village Bridal. I worked here for almost six years and recently had the opportunity to purchase the bridal shop. I knew the dresses were beautiful and that I wanted to continue to carry world class designers like Pronovias, Watters and Watters, Nicole Miller, and Manuel Mota.
But I also knew that the heart of any high-end boutique is customer service and if given the chance I would make customer service my number one priority. In fact, many of the positive reviews about Village Bridal on CitySearch are about me as an employee.
And now as the new owner I have the unique opportunity to demonstrate that our customer service is now as world class as the dresses we carry.
So if you are in need of a Bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses, ball gown, or a mother of the bride/groom dress, please come to the shop and experience not just the words, but the heart and actions of true customer service!
She lied about the dress.
I was desperate for a dress after looking all over Nashville. I went to Village Bridal and was plesantly surprised at the selection of dresses. I had heard the service was bad, but wanted to check it out anyway. I was quickly informed me that I needed an appointment when I walked in the store, but my mom was with me and I'm pretty sure they were seeing dollar signs, so they "allowed" me to pull some dresses. Elizabeth, the owner, told me she was the dress designer and the majority of the dresses were her original designs.
SHE LIED! After I ordered a dress and paid half of the amount on the spot, I went home and began researching reviews of Village. Turns out she isn't a designer. She cuts the tags out of dresses you can find at other stores and then charges more money by claiming they are original. I mean she charged me nearly 2 times the cost of the dress! When I confronted her about it she refused to give our check back. We were stuck. I only had a couple of months until my wedding and didn't have time to get something else ordered.
Stay away from Village. She is dishonest. The dresses are beautiful, but not original.
See a review over 1 star? Must be fake!.
Either fake, or the bride had a diamond the size of a ring pop when she walked through the door. After experiencing the EXACT. SAME. THINGS. as the majority of... heck! must be all of the REAL reviews on this place, I have to say, the woman is ridiculous. I've lived overseas. In Europe. Being a "European business woman" as some snotty chick put on here, is NOT an excuse for no holds barred RUDENESS.
If you have piles of money to spend, please, don't go here. Go to Atlanta or NY, but please, don't go here. My friend and I were both looking at wedding dresses. Needless to say, she was rude, wouldn't even condescend to talk to us about making an appointment!.
Not in a million years!. I will not set foot in that dump for a million dollars. I will not go in there, even if they beg me. Not in a million years!
Rude Owner!. We went to our scheduled appointment and have never been treated so rudely! The owner made several insulting remarks to my daughter. She was very pushy and kept insisting she put on dresses that were not even her style while not paying attention to what my daughter wanted. I've heard people try to explain away the owner's attitude because of her nationality, but rude with an accent is still rude!! I would never recommend this place to anyone and really don't know how they are still in business.
