Been going here for years!. My first experience at International Market was back in Middle School and I have been going back ever since..I'm almost 30! I love the food and I love the wonderful family that runs and owns the restaurant. When I lived closer, I would go at least once a week but now I go once or twice a month. The food is fresh and they are constantly making it throughout the day. I love the broccoli noodle, the chow mein and the mushroom chicken. Everything is wonderful and there is so much to choose from that there is sure to be something for everyone! Oh and it's buffet style where you go down the line and tell them what you want. So you get to see everything and what it looks like. If you are looking for real thai food, you must try International Market!
Very Friendly and Great Food. If you're down with the squid, just call ahead or let them know and they'll make it for you special. Squid with bamboo, basil and the curry broth. They can make it pretty hot if you like. I go here once a week and it never gets old. After Salathai closed down, this became my goto place for good thai food. Actually, I'm about to place on order with them now....hold on!
AUTHENTIC.
Having just returned from Thailand less than two weeks before I ate here I can tell you this is the real deal. I fell in love with Thai cooking while there and have been looking for some authentic Thai since I returned.
I had the green curry chicken and it was as close to native Thai as there is. The taste was great and the only letdown was that it wasn't as killer hot as it is over there. No worries. I asked for some fresh Thai chili's and after adding them, hehe, I had to take a few out.
I had a sticky rice cake for dessert which was good, but there was no mango (out of season) which wasn't quite the same as sticky rice; I'd wait to have that again until there's mango.
The staff are all sweet, which is so typical of the Thai culture. They told me next time, just ask for what I want and they'll make it on the spot.
As for some older reviews I just read that were disappointed that food may have been in the steamers too long, I have news for you: that's exactly how it's done in Thailand. The food is prepped in the morning and then offered all day. I ordered right from the steamer tray and found it more than fine.
Why only four stars if I enjoyed it so much? hehe. How can you call a grocery store cafe a "five star restaurant"? I recommend it wholeheartedly, and I'd rather go someplace like the International Market than a five-star restaurant any day.
Fast service. If you are in the area and feel the need for an Asian kick... Stop in, its quick and taste great!!!!
Excellent fresh, home cooked food with lots of vegetables. International Market is one of my favorite restaurants; I eat there a couple of times a week. I can get an excellent lunch for about $6. The food is consistenly good, and there is a very nice selection. It is hard to get good vegetables at many restaurants, but International Market has a wide selection of fresh cooked vegetables.
Not impressed. The spicy coconut milk-curry chicken stick is OK but the broccoli noodle is bad. Some of the noodle are dehydrated ? maybe stayed too long in the serving tray. The Thai ice tea is too sweat.
Locals Only.
My father has been going there since it opened. He took me for the first time when I was 4 and I have gotten the exact same thing ever since. The people are so friendly, it's in a hip neighborhood and the food is good and cheap. The spicy chicken sticks, vegetable egg rolls, fried rice, and bamboo shoots with chicken curry is the most amazing combo ever. And throw in a big bottle of papaya juice. It's the bomb.
Locals Only please.
great food! friendly staff!. Love International market! The food is fantastic and always very fresh. The staff is very very friendly. There is always something new to check out.
Don't look too closely. Haven't been there since I saw ***** running over the food service trays. Otherwise, some good oily food!
It's not that good.. I had been there many times before I stopped eating there. Everything seems to be made way long ago. They are all too sweet. Surely they have been sitting there for hours too. You can see from the edges of each tray. Nasty food.... don't recommend.... This place is still alive because it's located close to a university and everything is cheap. You guys better pay a little bit more for better food.
