Don't Shop here

Your better off going to Home Depot or Lowes. Tried to return something the very next day as I didn't need it. Denied it saying the product had been out of the package. Not a local place I will give my business to. Sorry.

Gentleman at register was very rude as well!

Classic hardware store

I have been going to Hillsboro Hardware for over 20 years. The part of the experience that I value the most is being able to walk in and quickly get help from somebody who knows what they are doing. They have a full stock of normal hardware-type items. You could probably get it cheaper at Lowes, but the service and convenience is worth paying a little extra. I appreciate that they have stayed in the neighborhood for so long and made it possible from people in the community to shop locally. Also, the laid-back 60's/70's atmosphere is fun and the staff has a sense of humor. By the way, there is usually plenty of parking if you take the drive to the parking lot behind the store. That also avoids the necessity of backing out from the small front lot into heavy traffic.

• Pros: Cool atmosphere, knowledgeable service
• Cons: sometimes hard to make the turn into the parking lot

Everything a Hardware Store Should Be

This is a family establishment I believe. There are three brothers who are all knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They are always there to greet you when you walk in, You would not believe how much they have in such a small space. They are definitely my first stop for all my hardware needs. I will grudgingly go to Home Depot or Lowe's if they aren't open (nights and Sundays)

• Pros: Friendly, service, value
• Cons: Twenty first Ave traffic can make it difficult to get in, and parking is limited.
