You are better off attempting to fix your on exhaust problems than to bring your vehicle here, had my cat con. stolen of my vehicle and brought my classic Cutlass Supreme here to fix as it came recommended. I also asked them to replace the exhaust flange and bolts and springs. Well after that was done for about $350(new converter) my car developed this loud "bang" on acceleration and changing gears. Took it back and they couldn`t figure it out by looking at the underside for ten minutes and refused to look at the manifold which I insisted on. Come to find out they busted my rear exhaust manifold and never told me, a few weeks later I`m replacing that "NEW" catalytic converter with a real "NEW" one. This place specializes in cheap quick exhaust fixes to keep junk cars moving for a few more weeks. Not worth your money or time. neither is the Midas just up the road, also ripped me off fixing what this places messed up.
Family owned and operated.....experts at what they do.....looks run down but.....highest quality work at a great price.
Gorilla Muffer will rob you – I had bought a replacement catalytic converter from and brought the replacement to this place to have installed. Not Bad price , $100. After the repair, I asked for the old one back so I could recyle the old for scrap money. These thing are worth +/- $120 in scrap. They refused to give it back citing against the law. Something didn't add up. I wasn't able to find the law. After calling back to ask for when I got home, they told me the same deal. If one were buy if from them than they apply a core refund for the old one. Since I didn't I wasn't entitled to one according to company policy. I'm calling the EPA to complain. Do not go to this place period.
deceptive on warranty - beware! – Gorilla's owner refused to honor his warranty on a catalytic converter I got from him earlier in 2008.
In March 2008, my car became undrivable. The mechanic I was working with couldn't do the catalytic converter installation, so we took the car to Gorilla's for that part of the repair. The *only* thing the owner told me orally when I signed the paperwork and picked up my car was that I needed to keep it regularly tuned up in the future, else the warranty would be void.
In early September, my car conked out while I was traveling to a family funeral. I had it towed to a nearby shop. They got the car to drivable condition but told me that I would need to replace the catalytic converter again!
When I got back to Nashville, I took the car to Gorilla's. The first mechanic I talked to examined the car and paperwork, and told me it looked like everything was in order, but I'd have to see the boss when he got back the next week. On Thursday 9/18 I returned to Gorilla's and did finally see the owner. His position was that because I did not have the O2 sensors replaced in March, I had voided my warranty.
I tried to tell him that he did not SAY that to me about the O2 sensors. If he had TOLD me that then, I would have certainly done so. But instead of listening to me, he became belligerent.
Gorilla's warranty document does state that the O2 sensor should be replaced, but
(1) the owner did not TELL me that at the time.
(2) the mechanic I used in March also does not remember him telling us that.
(3) another repair shop has looked at the car and confirmed that my sensors are working, and that mechanic insists that a sensor replacement was not necessary in March.
Even if the written document holds sway, the owner's actions are deceptive. By omitting SAYING this crucial piece of information, his customers are likely to void their warranties. They would have to pay careful attention to the written document to find out about this "necessary" repair.
