In Short – This freestanding fiesta is decked with beer signs, soccer balls hanging from the ceiling and televisions blaring the Hispanic station. Las Chivas is a low-key, friendly sanctuary for authentic Mexican food and frothy margarita lovers. A trio of bowls brim with fresh lime wedges, chopped cilantro, red onion and smoky salsa. The shrimp cocktail, seviche, oysters on the half shell and whole fried fish are a delicious reminder of good Mexican food.

No better Mexican food in Nashville

by batchamamakoodles

Holy cow, where to start? The food tastes fresh. It's authentic. The service is terrific. If you want great Mexican food go where the gringos are in the minority among the diners. That's the case at Las Chivas. Ownership is on site and the staff is friendly. Moved from Nashville in April and miss Las Chivas real bad.

  • Pros: Best Mexican food in Nashville hands down.
  • Cons: No real complaints, so I'm not going to make something up.

I love this place

by dspindler

Although it's in an old Pizza Hut and there's no non smoking area and it's cramped, the food is terrific. Authentic as authentic can be and the clientele proves that. I love the Steak Empanizado (skillet fried steak with corn meal)..it's great and they have wonderful chile rellenos. Don't expect to get overwhelmed with their ability to speak English but just point to something on the menu and you'll be happy. I live in Hendersonville and make it a point to eat there at least once a month

  • Pros: Wonderful food, Friendly service
  • Cons: , Cramped

YUM!

by scb71

The food is the best Mexican found in Nashville. I have tried what seems like every Mexican restaurant in town and the food at Las Chivas wins - hands down. The atmosphere is nothing special - after all it is an old Pizza Hut - but it says something to walk into a full restaurant and my wife and I are usually the only non-hispanics there. Go for the fresh food and leave satisfied - if you want a cheezy Middle Tennessee version of Mexican this is not it, but if you love Mexican food like I do then you have found your place.

  • Pros: Great food
  • Cons: basic decor
