As for the dining area, the windows are big, the tables are clean and even a full house never feels cramped in this sunny room. Family-owned for decades, Swett's offers a surprising variety of what some call meat-and-three and others call soul food. Swett's fried chicken is famous, but connoisseurs know about the baked chicken, beef tips, fish and roast beef. Other favorites are cornbread and sides like baked squash casserole and mac and cheese.

I love a good meat and three, and I've always heard about Swett's and how good it is. I have since been a couple of times to give it a fair shot but I have not been totally pleased. There was nothing wrong with the food, it tasted fine. The issues I have with Swett's are the portions and the price. The price is a little higher than average for a meat and three. Also, for that price you would expect some decent portions but everytime I have gone there I walk away hungry. Until they make some changes in those areas then I can't consider this place anything else besides average.

I grew in the neighborhood where Swett's is located. I remember the ORIGINAL Swett's diner when the matriarch of the family (Mrs. Swett) was living. The food was a lot better then and the prices were affordable. Today things have changed but the Beef Tips are still my favorite. It is however a little overpriced. It's a great place for college students and visitors but there are a few other places in town that have great food and better prices.
Pros: Pleasant environment, large group meeting room available
Cons: Prices too high
