In Short – Located in historic Germantown in a 19th-century brick home, Monell's offers an all-you-can-eat spread. Long wooden tables seat up to a dozen people, making for a family-style dining experience. Each day's menu includes a featured entree, vegetables, bread, dessert and at dinner, a chef's choice. Diners pass around bottomless bowls and platters of Southern entrees, like pork chops, chicken, dumplings and country-fried steak.

Great Family Dining

by dfagan1036 at Citysearch

Took my wife and 5 children there on vacation. Shared a table with another family. The food was excellent southern-style chicken, pork chops and more sides than you can shake a stick at. The staff was attentive and plenty of food was provided.

We paid more for breakfast at the hotel than for this enjoyable meal.

It was great fun meeting other people while sharing a meal. There was something for everyone, even my most picky kid. If we ever go back to Nashville, we will be visiting them again.

  • Pros: Great food, fun family-style, great staff, good price
  • Cons: None

Birthday Treat

by icecubeninjagirl at Citysearch

Well, I work in the airline industry and can fly anywhere in the country on a moment's notice. For my mother's Birthday last September, we flew to Nashvile to eat at my mom's most favorite restraunt in all of the United States.. Monell's. Our little group consisted of my parents, my 2-year-old son, and myself.

We have been on many cruises and in other situations where you have to sit with strangers and eat. Unless you have some sort of a phobia about eating with strangers, it is such a fun time getting to know the people at your table.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and is planning to have her surgery next week. Guess where we are going for some TRUE COMFORT FOOD? Monell's.

They have a Koi pond out front, and a little gazebo in the garden. One of the hostesses gave us some fish food and let my son feed the fishes. They had a sippy cup for him to use (how thoughtful) at lunch, and sang my mom the funniest restaurant birthday song ever!

When my mom is no longer with us, I hope Monell's is still open for a long long time, because it will remind me of her everytime we go. Oh yeah, the food is great, too. :)

  • Pros: food, atmosphere, people
  • Cons: could use an airport shuttle service!
