In Short – The 1853 Greek Revival mansion is commonly referred to as the "Queen of Tennessee Plantations." A log cabin on the premises dates back to 1790, although the mansion remains in mid-19th century furnishings. Guides in period costume take groups through the home, pointing out things like bulletholes in the limestone columns. The 30-acre grounds hold summer concerts and the annual Fall Fest. During Christmas, the mansion is decked out in period garlands.

This was simply one of the most enjoyable experiences of our trip to Nashville. The house and grounds are both historic and beautiful. The tour guide, John, was informative, witty and a lot of fun. The house itself was decked out for Christmas and could not have been more interesting and beautiful. Anyone interested in history, needs to take a couple of hours and enjoy this treasure. Simply Amazing!
- Pros: great tour, great attraction, fun
- Cons: none
Superb Experience!

I was quite impressed at the variety of things to see at Belle Meade Plantation. It is not just a house museum but an entire plantation experience where you get to see how the family started out, original buildings that survived the civil war and they even had a special event going on when we were there. The promotional material said that they have ongoing events throughout the year so my family is planning to return in the Fall for Fall Fest. We spent an entire afternoon here - what a treat!
