In Short
Located in the heart of the antique district, Pre to Post Modern's offers more than gilt-edged antiques. Smooth occasional tables pepper the showroom. Classic diamond chairs, kitchen table sets complete with vinyl chairs, animal-print rugs and kitschy lamps serve as backdrops for the vast collection of curios: placemats, picture frames, LPs and 45s from Joan Jett to Al Jolson, cigarette cases, ashtrays, salt and pepper shakers shaped like TVs and Howdy Doody lunch pails.

I love the merchandise - great selection, but the few times I'ver been in there I've found the staff to be unfriendly and made to feel like answering my questions was a bother. Not so sure I'll be going back anytime soon.

This place is located in the 8th avenue antique district, but it is much more laid back than most antique stores. This place specializes in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, so it isn't full of stuffy, overdone antiques. Rather you will find funky finds from the mid century. They also have very high end, very awesome furniture in the showroom next door if you can afford it. The store is set up with booths from different vendors, so everyone has a little different vibe to their selection. The staff is nice, and they often run sales. Karen Hollywood is a hoot, and a very nice store owner. PROS: Unique finds CONS: Parking

I was Karen Hollywood's (store owner) customer at her first vintage booth in a thrift store, then because of her great merchandise followed her to her first store, Hollywood Boutique, then to P2PM. She finds the good stuff and sells it at prices you can afford...not because she doesn't know the value (she does), but because she still believes in giving people a deal. If you love Retro, this is the store for you. Betty Page a/k/a R. Mambo (Miss Hollywood, I miss seeing you; my marriage is going great...highly recommend marrying a younger man, particularly an Englishman.)
