Tea and Salad....YUM!. I love going here for lunch. Their fruit tea and Black Bean Salad (with meat, chicken, or just rice) are wonderful. And I would have never thought of using a bbq blended sauce as the dressing...but it taste's great. I would highly recommend Calypso. Their location is great for a quick lunch and head back to work...or it's a great place to just go with some friend to relax and enjoy the colorful atmosphere : )

Great for vegetarians!. Plenty of options for vegetarians (mostly side items, but they still make a delicious meal), and even vegans with some modification. Very tasty. Especially enjoyed the callaloo and the cornbread muffin topped with coconut. For a bigger meal, try the nachos with the Caribbean twist.

Healthy Food. Each time I visit my son in Nashville I have to go to the Calypso Cafe, it's the best! The food is excellent if you are in to healthy foods, the price is right. Each time I have gone to Calypso Cafe the wait to be seated has only been about 5-10 minutes theyare that good. Doesn't matter what you order - it is all great. This is my all time favorite when going to Nashville. This is one of the best kept dining secrets in Nashville, well I guess I let the cat out of the bag. Try it, you'll agree.

Instant nostalgia!. I left Nashville 10 years ago, but every time I'm at Calypso, I'm transported back to my Vandy days. The flavors are simultaneously exotic and comforting; home cooking from a part of the world that I've never visited. I'm vegetarian now, but I'd have a hard time resisting the barbequed chicken salad, although it's actually the combination of the sauce, sour cream and black beans that I miss).
