Fantastic selection.
Fantastic selection of great books. Largest Civil War and history section I have ever seen. Very knowledgeable.
If you are serious about books this is a must visit place.
Personally I can overlook any politics, and nothing was in my face. Those that can't look past someone's politics need to stay home, more books for me.
In another review they were criticized for having KKK books (antique). However his African American section is 4X larger!
No they don't want loud cell phones, kids running around and unnecessary wear and tear on some really rare books, would you?
I visit each time in Nashville and will be back next year.
Good bookstore for racists. home-made Obama hate posters in the window? What moron intentionally alienates intellectually minded book readers at his bookstore? Buys stolen books (according to the Nashville Scene)? Stay away.
Southern comfort: agrarian writers, Civil War ephemera and fancy reading lamps..
In Short
Nashville's literati come here to find a superior selection of Southern and classic literature, leather-bound volumes, illustrated children's classics and antique maps. Elder's has been serving Nashville's fancy book-learnin' set since 1930 and this modest-looking bookshop stocks some of the rarest of the rare: first edition Faulkner, limited edition Warren, signed Hemingway. And don't forget the Tennessee and Civil War history--another specialty, Captain Re-enactment.
