What People Are Saying About Jack's Bar-B-Que

In Short – With pink-neon flying pigs flanking its sign, this barbecue joint is easy to spot among the lower Broadway eateries. Get in line at the back of the casual, cozy dining room to get your paper plate loaded up with pulled pork, ribs and sides. The pork shoulder is tender and smoky and the beef brisket is moist and peppery. There's also macaroni and cheese and green beans--pretty much the only vegetable on the menu.
Editor's Tips
- Where to Sit:
- The main dining room gets crowded when there's a concert or game going on, so look to the back patio for additional seating. And bring your pup--the patio is pet-friendly.
- The Extras:
- The restaurant also offers catering for parties and other events.
Great BBQ!

The food at Jack's is excellent!! It's a great place to go before a concert or hockey game. The staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. I wish it was open later!
Over priced & over rated!

Well this place certainly doesn't live up to it's reputation as far as I'm concerned. For starters the staff while not unfriendly, didn't go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The attitude was one of indifference at best & just short of rude at worst.Maybe I expect to much but for $15 bucks for a meal & drink I'd like to eat off something besides a styrofoam plate with a plastic fork & spoon. The sides I tried Mac & cheese & green beans were bland & lacked much taste at all & the portions weren't exactly overwhelming. The 3 meats I had Smoked Turkey (off a processed turkey roll it appeared, not an actual Turkey),the Brisket,& the pulled pork were passable nothing more or less, just OK.The 2 sauces I had the Tennessee,& the Texas were almost cloyingly sweet.Being from Middle Tennessee maybe I just expect more from a BBQ joint but this place just doesn't measure up.If you don't know BBQ you may like it OK,if you do stay away you'll come out disappointed.
Best stop before a hockey game
by Pete and Claudia Weber at Citysearch
A must for taking out of towners who don't know what a "meat and three" is ! Pre-game hockey (or concert)meals --and the serving line guys are friendly and funny.. Take your tray upstairs for great people watching on Broadway.
- Pros: Hearty meat and three
- Cons: The long lines (which move quickly)!
Flying Pigs Mean Bar-B-Que Heaven
by Jim in Green Hills at Citysearch
When you see the flying pigs, you know you have found a little bit of bar-b-que heaven on lower Broadway because Jack's Bar-B-Que is the best in Nashville.
Everything is good, but my favorites are the pork shoulder, smoked turkey, and the sausage. Add some mac and cheese and iced tea and enjoy. Bring your appetite and get some extra napkins -- it's great!
- Pros: Best Bar-B-Que in Nashville
- Cons: It's so good it's hard to stop
Yumm-o BBQ!
by AbbyOH at Citysearch
I like Jack's a lot because of all the choices they have in terms of meats and sauces and because you get a lot for your money. It's not the healthiest food around, but if you want good BBQ in Nashville, this is it. I've waited in long lines here before, also, but it actually goes pretty fast!
- Pros: Great food, fast, affordable
- Cons: Not any that would keep me from going here
