Dinner was amazing! "king" Arthur treated us like royalty. Service was impeccable. Steaks were mouth watering. Great wine selection. The lemon cheesecake was to die for. Can't wait to go back!!!
Reasons to go:
1. The cornbread pancakes with gobs of butter. They are addictive.
2. The wedge salad. Probably the best in town,
3. Steak. It is their specialty and it shows. Get the half filet because you will have stuffed yourself silly on the cornbread.
4. You'll feel like you are stepping back in time. It's like a country club restaurant stuck in the 1950s.
The menu has remained steadfast over the years, and the fish specials are a good bet for those who want a steak alternative. Jimmy Kelly's also serves a killer twice-baked potato.
This is a must if your visiting Nashville and want to experience the true southern plantation experience. The service is outstanding and the food is excellent.
I've been to Jimmy Kelly's several times. I've taken my daughters and women friends and we are all so well impressed with the whole experience. I rate it 5 stars due to this. From the entry of the house, to the bannister stair case, to the tables, to the bar to the wait staff to the food to the owner. Mike Kelly sets the tone to the place and all others follow suit. Pricing is reasonable for a great steak house. The next noticeable item is the wait staff, all older black kind gentlemen. Every time I have been, all have shown a true interest in my experience, anything I ask for, they have been able to accommodate me. The experience you just can't beat.
The price was incredible. 2 steak dinners, 4 glasses of nice wine, salad, potatoes, asparagus for right at $100.
The place has been around since the 30's. It has changed locations and has been in its present locale since the 80's. Nice greeting and super service from our waiter Ozzie. Walked us through all phases and took great care of us. Shared 4 apps and all were prepared well and served promptly. All entrees done very well and mixed grill afforded a nice sampling of surf and turf.
The food at Jimmy Kelly's is comparable to other steakhouses in Nashville, but the historic ambiance is what sets is apart from all of the others. Jimmy Kelly's is one of those traditional Nashville establishments that has upheld its standards and maintained a solid clientele for decades.
My husband and I were very impressed with the wine menu, and were pleased with our selection! The corn bread cakes are TO DIE FOR!! And Don happily kept them coming all evening! We shared the Blackened Catfish appetizer - it was remarkable! It literally melted in your mouth! The salads were very good as well! The greens were hearty, healthy, and full of color! My husband couldn't decide what to order, so he opted for the "Mixed Grill," which included a half-filet, two jumbo gulf shrimp, and salmon, all grilled to perfection. His steak was cooked exactly to order! I ordered the fish of the day, which was Atlantic Sea Bass stuffed with lobster and shrimp. I ordered it broiled without butter, and they honored my request. It tasted amazing!!! The portion was a bit small, but the huge taste more than made up for the size of the fish! All of the seafood was perfectly prepared -- not overcooked at all!
