The unchanging Elliston Place, which began life as a soda and burger shop and continues today as a meat-and-three and soda shop, maintains a definite '50s decor. Popular with nearby hospital workers and Vandy students and professors, it's a Nashville institution known for serving some of the best shakes in town.

Whenever a local Nashville paper has a contest for which restaurant has the best ____ fill in the blank - you will find Elliston's at the top of the list. The best milk shakes, the best cheeseburgers, the best service, etc. What a fabulous experience! It is truly a Nashville institution, and just a delight to visit. Worth many repeat visits.

My dad took me and my grandmother here last year because it used to be the "hip" restaurant when he was younger. This place was so disgusting... the seats and table were sticky and dried up food was stuck to nearly all of the tables. The service was slow too... it was just an overall gross place. Oh yeah and my mashed potatoes were cold too. Not recommended.

We went to this place because it was recommended in Frommer's. What a huge letdown. The food was tasted like it had been reheated several times. The decor is from the 40-50s but doesn't look like it has been cleaned since then. There was a stick in my green beans. We saw insects on the floor. Can't believe this place passed health code inspections.
