What People Are Saying About Exit In

In Short – Despite numerous reopenings over the past 30 years, Exit/In is still a Music City landmark. The club has made great strides since its unassuming early days, as depicted in Robert Altman's "Nashville." These days, Exit books well-known indie, rock and country acts like Emmylou Harris and the Donnas. With its large stage and two-tiered seating and standing area, Exit can easily accommodate shows that draw anywhere from 50 to 450 people.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Catch up-and-coming country artists at Tuesday's popular weekly live revue, Billy Block's Western Beat.
- Parking:
- Tow trucks prowl Elliston Place, so park in metered spots or on side streets.
It's an ok venue..could be better maintained.

I've been to this music venue many, many times over the years. It's good...just not great. We usually get there right before the final band plays because it's crowded and uncomfortable...there's always somebody rubbing up against you to get by....just gets annoying...personal space people. The music is good, though.
Good music, good times

I like the Exit/In because of it's history. It is sort of dark and dingy, but it is a REAL venue and rock club. It's got a lot of history in there, and besides that today there are a wide variety of genres that perform there.
- Pros: A lot of standing room.
- Cons: Not many besides the usual venue stuff.
a real rock gem

exit in is badass music club. the only one in nashville. its got alot of history to i..on the wall is billy joel to steve martin have played there. theres not alot of bells and whistles to it which makes it the real deal. . I just saw monotonix there which was one of the craziest most unique blow your mind music. they were crawlin the walls and played within the crowd instead on the stage. a ballsy move no other music place in nashville would do, to have a band perform like that. . beers are cheap ($3 for a PBR) its. worth the 5 minutes it may take you to find a parking spot. i wish more cities had a club like this. they got it right.
- Pros: cool vibe, raw, and all black paint
Randy Rogers was great

I came in town to see Randy Rogers, and it was great! The room was packed, and so many famous people were there. I am for sure going to see so more acts in the room. It is want a music venue should be.
- Pros: bands
- Cons: parking
Used to be good...

I used to love the Exit In but is has quickly become one of my least favorite venues in Nashville. My recent experience just solidified that. After standing in line for 45 minutes to get into a show I told the guy checking ID's that they needed more staff because people were having to wait forever out in the cold. He copped an attitude with me and soon began shoving me out the door and into the crowd of people. My girlfriend and I tried to reason with the staff but they cursed us out and told us to never come back. It was a sold out show and they were completely unprepared to handle it. I am protesting my credit card charges and NEVER going back to this awful place again. I have never been treated so rudely at a place I was a paying patron of. Awful awful business practices, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Let us hope the good bands that come to Nashville from now on do the smart thing and play somewhere else. This venue has fallen from a fun place to go into a total mess. The staff is among the worst of ANY PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN. Their bar service is terrible and the bathrooms are disgusting. I can't even imagine being a girl and having to deal with that.
Looking for a good music venue? Check out any of the following: the Ryman, Mercy Lounge/Cannary Ballroom, The End, 12th and Porter, War Memorial, Limelight, etc. I will never go to this place again, it is a terribly run music venue and there is no artist there could ever make me want to go back there.
- Pros: Sometimes has good bands
- Cons: Terribly rude staff, bad bar, disgusting restrooms
