Now this is Southern Cookin'. I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I've been back practically everyday since. When it comes to southern cookin' these folks sure got it right. Every time I eat there all kinds of nostalgic memories start poppin' up and at times I'm just sure that if I poked my head in the kitchen I'd see my little granny, with her silver white hair pulled back into a neat braid, hovering over the iron skillet to make sure the catfish was cooked just right.

This is one of the few places left now a days that when you walk in you can tell that they actually care that you're there and are happy to see you. You might even get to hear a good knee slapper of a story from the owner.

Visit Copper Kettle instead.... This meat & 3 was not worth the quality of food for the price. I paid $9 for a meat & 2 with iced tea. The mashed potatoes were from a box. Good potatoes can be found anytime now and should not be substituted by flakes from a box at this kind of restaurant. I understand there are labor costs that go into peeling, boiling/steaming, and mashing those potatoes. I had green beans & sampled my companion's vegetables. I believe that even if a restaurant must serve food from a can due to cost or seasonally availability, there are ways to season & cook those foods without them becoming mushy & tastless.

What happened to making a few good things really well?

I highly recommend that you try The Copper Kettle if you're looking for a good meat & 3 in Nashville. I would also like to add: for that price, Whole Food's food bar is well worth a trip.

Great southern cooking. Very good food. If you like southern cooking you will love the Pie Wagon. The fried chicken is wonderful and the blackberry cobbler tastes like my grandmother?s. A great place for lunch, it?s cafeteria style so you can get your food, sit down, and take as much or as little time as you like. The food and the prices are very reasonable.

I go to the Pie Wagon at least once a week. I love the Pie Wagon! It is nice and convinient to where I work downtown. The food is awesome, I love the hot chicken and the catfish on Fridays! I am a southerner and I think this is some of the best home cooked food I've ever eaten.
