Terrible Service – we took friends out for what we thought would be a nice dinner on the lake.
The food was just ok, but the service was horrible.
we waited for over and hour for sandwiches and shrimp coctail.
The waitress came several times to tell us our food was coming up soon.
we watched as several large tables arrived after us and got their food first.
we had to get up and look around for a to go box, because i guess the waitress was too embarrased to come back to our table.
Best Place in Town!! – My family and I tried out the Black Pearl this weekend and I cannot stress enough how great it was!! We had been several times last year and the improvement from then to now is remarkable.
The menu is completely different than I remember from last year and offers something for everyone at a decent price. We were a party of 8 and asked our waitress to suggest her favorites for us to try.. Needless to say, we all left fat and happy. I got the pork chop and it was delicious.
The service, food and, of course, the atmosphere was unbeatable. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the band while we ate and had cocktails...... If you haven't tried the Black Pearl this season, please do! If you have, I'm sure you can understand how excited my family and I are to have this place right around the corner!
Best Marina – Loved loved loved everything about this place. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Highly recommended. I will be spending a lot of time there this spring and summer.
Terrible Place – Black Jack cove is not only operated by 2 owners who are rude but clearly have no clue how to treat their customers. Over the weekend we not only had terrible service at the Black Pearl but the steak for $18.95 was paper thin and rubber. You can get a better steak at the Waffle House! Not worth your money. Tried to inform management about it and they can care less. Oh, did I mention that I am also a paying customer of a slip rental? Guess what is coming out of their marina this month.....
Nashville's Fanciest Fun Marina – We can't believe how great the BlackJack Cove is now! It is a fun, friendly, fabulous Marina and I can't wait to get back. This past holiday weekend there were seafood and brunch buffets, live outdoor music, a new tiki bar, and all the fun you'd expect on the lake. We are glad to see someone put TLC on that old run down marina!
Mangement is Horrible. Will not go back – We have used this Marina for years but the new management is absolutely horrible. Be very careful where you park. They will tow your car while you are having dinner then yell at you. Maybe they are in a partnership with the towing company which charged us $175.00 to get our car back. What a racket. Never again. I'm so sorry that they give Old Hickory a bad name. We would never go back.
VERY SLOW KITCHEN, Plan on 1hour MIN for food after ordering – I have been to Blackjack Cove 3 times in the past 3 months. 1 time on a weekend night "Prime Time", once on a midweek evening and once this last Saturday at 2pm. The first time was pretty packed and the food took over 1.25 hours to arrive once we sat down. It took over an hour to get a table that night but that was almost expected. The second time in the mid week we had an identical experience only there was not even a half full house. Over an hour to get the food once ordered. We almost walked out, but then saw our waiter coming with our food. The third time was also identical only the decks were clear. The third trip we had our kids and ordered their food immediately. It still took over an hour to get out chicken fingers and burgers out. I say burgers because they forgot the cheese….
I spoke to the manager this last visit and told her about my experience. She was not even apologetic and went on to tell me how small their kitchen was and how this was expected. She also told me that the waiters are supposed to tell the guests that once they sit down….ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not once in our visits did any wait staff tell us that. They did say “we lost a cook”,” we got a new cook”, and this time was “we only have one cook today”…They just spent 2 million renovating the place and it looks GREAT. Be prepared to wait over an hour after you order and to pay $70 for 2 adults and 2 kids for 2 burgers (no fries), 1 salad and 1 chicken fingers (no fries) with 2 grown up drinks each and 2 kids drinks.
Never again. Even when we are out on our boat.
Nice place but to over priced and food fair at best. – I had the grouper sandwhich and it was so small and tasted terrible. Service was ok. I can't wait for Anchor High to open back up way better food and they don't drain your wallet.
Nice atmosphere, Good Food, bad service – Easter was the first time for Sunday brunch and I've been a few times since. I took my visiting family for Mother's Day yesterday. The food is good, the atmosphere is the draw but there's one problem for brunch and it's huge if you're there to spend time with friends or family. My first plan was to email the restaurant but there's no website or email address I can find. This isn't a new problem. It should have been addressed before Mothers Day: We were there for 2 hours. I waited for a waffle for my mom for over 30 min when I should have been with her for her Mother's Day brunch! The guy in line behind me was obviously irritated. The chef shuffled waffles and pasta like a pro but each person ordered for their parties and got 1 or 2 whole waffles (those giant ones which are a meal at other restaurants) which just increased the wait. If you could just walk up, you'd take a couple of sections and come back if you wanted more.

The line for W & P forms along the dessert table so people don't know about desserts or can't get to them. Lines for those and omelets interrupt diners. Our server did not tell us that we didn't have to wait in the same line for pasta. I heard another server telling her table this. People stood for a long time before they knew they could branch off for pasta or roast beef.

Furthermore, there is nothing you can get that doesn't require someone making it for you on the spot besides roast beef, potatoes and vegetables. They need more self-service if they want people to return or more help (and irons).

I hope they get it together. I insisted on my family coming to this place...they won't listen to me again. I won't be back until I hear it's better. They can buy waffle irons at Wal-Mart if they don't want to spend $ for the commercial brand and the problem will decrease significantly. They will turn tables quicker, the irons will pay for themselves and the servers won't have it taken out on them (which we knew better than but I know others took it out of the tip).
RUDE EMPLOYEES AND OWNER! – This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I've ever had! We had the same tpye experience as another reviewer. We sat at the bar area and waited almost 20 min. for someone to come wait on us. I finally went to the bar and asked if anyone was waiting on our table and was rudely told by the bartender that someone would be there in a minute. Another 10 min. later we still had no service. I went back to the bar and asked again and was told they were in the middle of a shift change and someone would be there in a minute. He gave us menus and sent us back to our table. We finally had a waitress come to our table. When we tried to order food she told us we would have to move to another area b/c they didn't serve food after 4 pm. in that area. Now had they come to us when we first got there then we could have placed our order. We asked to see the manager. She was very rude so we then asked to see the owner. We tried explaining what happened and he tried to tell us that food was never served out there and that you had to come to the bar to get service. When I tried to tell him that I had asked the bartender 2 different times if we needed to come to the bar for service and we were told no, he didn't want to believe me. By the end of the "conversation" he was yelling at us and banging his hand on the table. After his ranting, he walked over to his staff and took a bow. I was absolutely mortified! I have never been talked to they way I was "talked" to by this man (if you can call him that). He has no clue how to run a business and I will do all I can to make sure everyone knows about my experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!
