The Inside Scoop.
I worked in this store last summer when they were in Murfreesboro. I loved their business IDEAS, but unfortunately they seemed to be really shady with customers, which I didn't understand. A person buys a dress, you order it, what's so hard about this?
I was sometimes left alone to answer the phone and I heard more sob stories from brides than what I think could possibly be normal. I understand that some people (especially brides!) are unreasonable, but this was too many girls to just be considered "unreasonable." Dresses were never ordered, wrong dresses were ordered, dresses were taking over a year to arrive.. It didn't seem normal.
The owners were so nice at first, but after a few weeks I guess they felt comfortable enough for the husband to constantly belittle and berate the wife in front of me - often. I felt VERY uncomfortable but I still honestly liked my job. Who doesn't want to play with dresses all day? The final straw was when the husband yelled at me for something stupid in front of his wife and another associate. I cried in the fitting room and then came out with a strong face and just left and never went back.
Very poor customer service skills - always misleading, dodging, or flat-out lying about items. The personal problems in the store seemed to add to the constant tension of having to hear brides crying on the phone, or being cursed out, because their dresses were lost in transit. Terrible experience, and now they have moved to another city. If you buy from there, BUY OFF THE RACK. Don't EVER order a gown from them. EVER.
AWFUL EXPERIENCE!. I wish I could give less than a one star rating to this business. She(Melissa - store owner) flat out DID NOT order my bridesmaids dresses and LIED to me when I called to make sure everything was on schedule. She even gave me a specific ship date. A month and a half before my wedding, when they still weren't in, I starting calling the store non stop. Left messages for over 2 weeks. No call was returned. I finally had to call the company she should've ordered the dresses from to have them hunt her down. She never even placed the order and my wedding was 3 weeks away! The only solution she gave was to go to David's Bridal. I had to order them from another store and she agreed to pay the rush fees. But she never did..she ignored my calls. After telling my story to a wedding planner, she had heard similar stories from at least 3 other brides. She has no business owning a bridal boutique if she can't take care of her brides! Hands down the worst customer service I've ever had!
ABSOULTELY DO NOT GO THERE!!!. We ordered my sister's dress on December 20th, 2008 for her Oct 3, 2009 wedding. We were told that the dress would arrive in April. In April, we called and were told it would be June. In June we learned that the order had never been submitted and that we'd have it in July. In July, we were told August. It's August and yesterday we were told end of August but beginning of Sept. Keep in mind the wedding is now 54 days away and no dress. Then we learned that the store is relocating to east TN at the end of August... before the dress is even supposed to arrive! A Bride's Strorey did not even mention this, we found it on their website. They have never apologized or showed any concern or compassion. If you buy from this store, you will be sorry!!!
Very bad service, not a good experience..
When I went dress shopping I liked this store because they were very friendly in the phone and they seemed to know how the whole wedding dress process is. However, when I went with my mom to the try dresses I was left alone for 10 minutes! waiting for her to bring another dress, then another 10 minutes waiting for another dress, then more waiting if I wanted to ask questions or try veils with the gowns. At the end it was my mom who had to go and find more dresses for me to try on. I had made an appointment but they overbooked the dressing rooms and the place was sooo crowded!!
Try a store that has an in-house gown alteration, because they don't have one and it's a pain.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! They don't pay their bills.
I was completely duped by the owner of this store, Melissa. I visited her store on October 27, 2008 and received the best personal attention and found the perfect dress. I ordered the dress (and put down a 50% deposit) on October 31, 2008. My wedding is on June 20, 2009 (just 4 weeks away -- the date of this review is from an initial positive review I gave them that I am now changing) and I still haven't received my dress! It has been with the distributor (who I believe is the middleman between the designer and the store) for at least the last 6 weeks and they won't release it because A Bride's Storey is behind on their bills! Not only has Melissa put me in a terrible position but she has been incredibly rude throughout this entire process. No apologies, no empathy. In fact, she HUNG UP on me today when I explained my frustration to her.
I believe she and her husband also have a photography business. All I can say is STAY AWAY from these people. They are dishonest and are not looking out for their customers' best interests. I will be issuing a formal complaint with the Better Biz Bureau (which they, by the way, are rated an F on already)
Great service and selection of gowns!!!!. The staff was very attentive and polite. I went to a chain store and had to almost beg for help. The selection of dresses was amazing. I found my dress and bought it the same day!!! Dress persivation is also included in the price of the gown.
