In Short – Few presidents' homes have as much to offer as the Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson. First built in 1819, the home was enlarged in 1831. After a fire in 1834, the home was rebuilt in the Greek Revival style. It has been under the care of the Ladies' Hermitage Association since 1889. Textiles and paint colors have been faithfully reproduced. Most of the furnishings are original and six rooms retain the original wallpaper.

A must-see for any history buff! A beautifully preserved home, acres of lush grounds and a friendly staff decked out in full period clothing make this a whole afternoon of FUN!

Take a step back in time!

My husband and I visited the Hermitage over Memorial Day weekend. It was just like taking a step back in time! There is a tour of the house and then you can walk the gardens and outbuildings on your own. We had a very enjoyable time and recommend it to everyone with an interest in history.

Know Before You Go:
The last tour starts at 5pm and the staff says visits last a minimum of two hours.
