Worst Food I've ever had!.
This had to be the worst food I've ever eaten. I eat mexican at least once a week and sometimes even 3 or 4 times a week. My "Fajita Chimichanga" was awful! There wasn't a "fajita" aspect to it and
it tasted like they bought it out of the freezer section at Walmart and cooked it in the microwave. I literally ate 2 bites.
I had also ordered the "fried icecream" - There was nothing "fried" about it. I took a bite of it and was finished. After seeing how much I didn't eat, the waitress told me I had this "full look" -- Are you kidding me? I took 3 bites of everything I ordered and you say I look "FULL"??? The worst $30 we've ever spent.
The resturant called me (after I left a comment on their website) and told me they'd send me free vouchers and that wasn't a typical service. I told them I didn't need the vouchers cause I wouldn't be back.…
Horrible experence.
First thing thru the door and a sour stench hit us in the face. Not sure what it was but it didnt get any better in the bathroom either. The mens bathroom smelled like a nasty nursing home. The urine
smell was horrible. My 12 year old daughter said that the womens wasnt any better.
The waitress was nice and helpful at least. When our food arrived it was the worst Mexican we have ever had. I got the lunch fajitas and they were $9.95 and there was barely anything there for the money. My wife got the taco dinner w/rice and refried beans. The taco shells were burnt. The rice and beans tasted soured.
We have both eat at El Chico since we were children. This was the worst experence we have had. We eat at the El Chicos on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville all the time and have never had an issue. Go to the one on Murfreesboro Road instead and skip the one in Goodletsville!!…
El Chico is just O.K..
It was Cinco de Mayo so is was busy. The service was O.K., not great.
The food was also O.K., tasty, plentiful. The tortilla chip were kind of greasy and the salsa was really not good.
The margaritas were weak at best.
I probably would not go back since there are so many good Mexican restaurants in the general area.…
Serving up heaping portions of Mexican favorites since 1940..
In Short
This Southern chain serves Tex-Mex and Mexican staples to large groups and families who come to gab over unlimited chips and hearty food staples. The Southwestern decor features
bright colored walls and thick terracotta-tiled floors. Classic El Chico combinations, around since the company started in 1940, heap tamales, cheese enchiladas and refried beans on one plate. Tex-Mex items represent tastes for fajitas, soft tacos and enchiladas verde.…
James Westborn's Review.
James Westborn's Review:
My family and I just bought a place in Cross Plains, Tenn. We are 30 miles North of this resturant. Coming from Southern California, we have had authentic Mexican food and some of the best is in Ca. My wife first visited this place and said I should try it, so we went. It was OK. Nothing to jump up and down about. Every Mexican place in Tenn. seems to have salsa out of a can. Ask your mexican cooks to make their own. Most will far out-do the canned stuff. The decor on this place was better than most places, so that was nice. Most Tenn. Mex places just have arches painted on the glass windows, as if that makes it offically Latino or something.
I have decided to check restrooms in all the resturants I go to. These were far above board. Clean throughout. On the way back to my table I noticed two tables that still had all the debris and dishes on them. They are a little slow cleaning the tables.
I had shrimp tacos and they were only fair...old shrimp.
My daughter had steak tacos and her's were good.
I also had a three tamale dish, with some sauce that tasted like it was out of a can.
My wife likes it but I guess I'm just spoiled from the real thing in Ca.
It is refreshing to NOW live in a state (TENN.) that is balanced and that far out weighs the fact, that the Mexican food here is average.
El Chico's is average.
The waiter was great!…
