When I walked in the front door, the smell of dog waste hit me like a wall of bricks. It was disgusting. It looked like the food in the front room had been urinated on by a dog. I waited about 10-15 minutes to be helped. When I finally got someone to help me, it seemed like they had no idea on how to check my dog in or anything, so I had to wait another 5-8 minutes for them to get a "experienced kennel worker". They finally checked my dog in and took him back. But when they took him back I noticed dogs loose everywhere and heard the workers yelling at them to"get back" and "no!". I understand having one or two dogs loose but they had at least 5 dogs out and they were all barking at my dog, making him more nervous then he already was. I told them I would be back, because I wanted to run across the street and grab my dog some food. So I came back and dropped off the food, a very small bag of some cheap Kroger brand. It was only for a night so I already figured he wouldn't eat, but I wanted to give him the option of clean food that hadn't been urinated on. They took it and said we will make sure he gets this. I came back to pick him up the next day and they brought my dog to me, he was shaking, dogs were loose everywhere again barking at him as he left. They brought me the bag of food I left for him, it was wet. I paid what I owed and ran out of there. I smelled the bag of food and it smelled like urine. If you love your dog and want them to be well taken care of with decent customer service then this is not the place. I wouldn't trust them with my hamster.I would not use them if they were the only boarding kennel within 50 miles of me.
This place is great. My dogs always come home exhausted from a day of playing. The hours are perfect for me and the crazy person below complains about everything (read his other reviews). You just can't please some people and that person is one of them. All business's have hours and theirs are perfect for people who work "normal" hours. I can drop my dogs off at 7am and pick them up as late as 6 and sometimes they will even stay late for me if I need them to. If you need a great place to board check them out during their OPEN hours.
Not available during regular business hours!.
Stopped by today to try and preview this location for our pet. The front gate was closed at 2:20 pm on a Wednesday. Another car pulled in after us, so we were forced to continue forward towards the closed gate. We called the phone number on the gate sign and after the woman said hello, I said "You have two customers waiting at your front gate". She said: "What do you want?" I replied "We would like to meet with someone about using your services." She replied we are closed we will be open at 3:30 or 4 pm. At no time during this brief conversation did she apologize or sound friendly. So we had to turn around and left. We went to another nearby pet resort and they not only had their hours CLEARLY posted, they willingly gave us a tour of their facility.
**Note: This is not the first time we have been by this facility. We have seen the gate closed so many times we just thought they did it to keep the animals out, so if you want easy access to your pet then beware!"
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!.
The Hairy Moose Pet Retreat is a wonderful place and my Golden Retriever loves to go there! Prisi, Annette, Lisa, and everyone else there knows my dog (Shea...and now Bella, too) by name and they have a warm welcome for him every day when I pull up to drop him off for day care. We have lived in a small apartment for 3 years and we both commute quite a distance and could not bare to leave our beloved Shea home for 12+ hours per day. They offer a wonderful day care service for dogs where they get to play and nap as they please. It has been a true blessing for our family. We have recently purchased a home with a fence and we also just last week adopted a sweet little Golden puppy (Bella) from them to keep Shea company in our new backyard. Bottom line- you cannot find a group of people that care about dogs more than the folks at Hairy Moose Pet Retreat. Shea loves seeing them in the morning when I drop him off as much as he loves seeing me in the afternoon when I pick him up!
They offer boarding in a large boarding run, day care, grooming, training, agility, and have a dog adoption non-profit from the same location.
Incredible care for dog and its owner!.
We moved to Nashville in 2004 and toured a bunch of kennels in town. They were all pretty unimpressive, both the facilities and the people working. We had a trip coming up quickly, so we settled on taking our lab to a "different" kind of kennel in West Nashville that charged a ton, I guess because the dogs each got a TV(?!) and mattress in their completely-enclosed cells.
Fortunately we happened upon the Hairy Moose and went to check it out. Everyone was as nice as could be, the facilities were good, and the dogs got interaction with each other and attention from the workers, and it was a true relief to find. We've been taking our dog there for more than 2 years now and they're incredible to her - she always gets a warm welcome from everyone and she found a boyfriend, another lab who's a regular there, to play with during her stays.
Couldn't feel better about the care these folks give to their guests!
