Horrible Unreliable hotel.
I booked a family Thanksgiving there in March 2007. I booked 7 suites,3 regular rooms and the meeting room. In late October 2007 I checked with them to give them names to match the rooms and was told that they were renovating and might not have the meeting room completely finished. In hindsight I should have cancelled but I am not from the area and knew finding new accomadations would now be difficult. On Nov 8,2007 I was told that none of the suites would be finished and neither would the meeting room. I could have the small regular rooms that were not renovated. There was no metion of pricing consideration.
Needless to say, I had to find a new place and was in no position to negoiate a good group rate be cause the event was in 12 days.
This hotel management is not to be trusted with any agreement that enter into.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!
Appears to be on a downhill slide.
Hot breakfast discontinued. At least it's a short walk to adjacent "Waffle House" or shopping center. No hot water one morning--apparently nobody in the skeleton desk staff checks the water heater. The floor in my upstairs room was unbelievably noisy & creaky. I wondered if it disturbed those staying in the room below.
This place lists for $20-30 below adjacent upscale motor inns--but I would only recommend it for short stays. Perhaps the discontinuation of hot breakfast indicates it's on the way out. Cigarette burn hole in one bed sheet. Very small towels--like you'd expect at Motel-6 for half the rate here.
Get a taste of old Southern charm at a down-home price at this quaint hotel..
In Short
This brick hotel provides a combination of comfort, character and convenience. Located just off I-65 in Brentwood, visitors are a mere 10 traffic-free minutes from downtown, but the quiet repose of the main lobby makes guests feel far from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are simple, basic and clean, and the front desk will assist in finding a nearby restaurant to suit any variety of tastes.
Fantastic Value !. This gem is a best kept secret ... We stayed there for 3 days and were very impressed with what we got for the price. Spacious, clean rooms with all amenities found in expensive hotels. Full, tasty deluxe breakfast served each morning (eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits, gravy, french toast, yogurt, juices, rolls and more !). The place is immaculately clean and the staff aims to please.
Great Value. We booked rooms here for our wedding guests. It is a lovely hotel and a good value. They were very accommodating to all of our guests with whatever need they had. I would recommend this hotel. The decor is beautiful and the suites are great. This was by far better than any other hotel we considered, and cheaper!!
Long live the Steeplechase!. The Steeplechase Hotel was the first place my family stayed when we moved to Brentwood in 1986. It was homey and wonderful, and the staff was SO nice!! it's a shame that there's that lovely 65 overpass directly overhead now. Still, the Steeplechase definately has fond memories for me, and I would recommend it!
