What People Are Saying About Wild Iris Cafe

In Short – Once inside this cozy little oasis crowded with tables and local art, you'll forget the strip-mall ambience and feel right at home. The menu of contemporary cuisine is comfortably innovative without seeming bizarre. The signature salad of mixed greens, dried cherries, walnuts and Gorgonzola is a neighborhood favorite. Some items are like dressed-up soul food: Pecan-encrusted trout with roasted vegetable hash and a thick, grilled chipotle-barbecue pork chop with macaroni and cheese.
Editor's Tips
- Look Good:
- Brentwood office-park types, here's the place to take business associates when the food counts. You could also meet for a drink after work at the friendly little bar.
- Know Before You Go:
- Look for a pared-down lunch menu featuring innovative sandwiches, pasta and seafood.
- Where to Sit:
- So the view is a sea of Chevy Suburbans--at least you can sit outside in nice weather.
Great first visit

We recently went to eat at The Yellow Porch but didn't have a reservation and they were full, they ask if we would like for them to call Wild Iris and see if they had room. The only room at Wild Iris was at the bar so they saved us two seats.
We had been wanting to eat at Wild Iris for sometime but don't get to Brentwood very often but we had a great time! From the first course thru dessert was fantastic!! Will definately be back and will probably sit at the bar, very cozy and a great bartender!
- Pros: Food, Wine, Service
- Cons: Driving to Brentwood

I've been several times during lunch—sometimes the restaurant was packed and we sat at the bar, other times it was strangely empty in the middle of the typical lunch. Almost every time (with the exception of the bar experiences)—we've been relatively ignored by our server. Food has come out at different times, or things were forgotten, drinks ignored, etc.
Good service should come standard with any restaurant experience—pricey or not. We finally just quit going and began choosing other options in the Brentwood area. If you do want to support the owners—try Yellow Porch in 100 Oaks. It's far superior.
- Pros: nice patio, great bread
- Cons: inconsistent, crowded, hit-or-miss service, pricey
great for business lunch

We eat lunch at Wild Iris at least once a month for business. The lunch menu is well-priced (around $10) and the food is excellent. We've always had good service. The dinner menu is more expensive.
To refer to the other reviews in this thread - it's not Applebee's. You won't enjoy dining at Wild Iris if you prefer large chain restaurants. There are no booths. It's a small independent restaurant. That said, the portions are not tiny. We generally have take-home boxes in our hands when we leave.
If you've heard of aoili or chutney, or if you like to try new foods, you'll like Wild Iris. Try the smoked turkey sandwich with mango chutney as a wrap.
Very nice!
