Editorial Review for Comic Strip Live – by Scott Makin

The Scene
Housed in its original location since 1976, Comic Strip Live can boast of being one of the longest-running venues for comedy in the world. A front bar area with stools and booths leads to the showcase room, which seats 200 in the traditional round table/chair layout. The menu (from nearby restaurants) offers Chinese, Italian and Mexican cuisine.

The Draw
This club has cultivated a workshop environment. During the week, up-and-coming comedians develop and perfect new material. Once they've passed the test, they're slotted for the coveted Friday, Saturday and Sunday slots--which also feature headliner comics doing 10- to 15-minute sets. Major stars who began their careers here include Adam Sandler, Jim Breuer, Caroline Rhea and a then-unknown 18-year-old Eddie Murphy. When in town, sometimes big names such as Chris Rock still stop by.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

In a world where laughs are needed more now than ever, Comic Strip Live delivers every time. It's definitely the place where you can go to forget about everything, enjoy a nice drink (actually 2 nice drinks), get a quick bite to eat and laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh. The laughs are good for the soul and it's much cheaper than Prozac!

I took my wife here for our 6 year anniversary. We came on a Thursday night to avoid a busy night and it turned out to be packed. The following combination made my anniversary perfect: great comedians, great food, strong drinks and a candle light table. The waitress gave my wife a rose and told her it was from me. I've never seen anything like this and that made my night end on the most perfect note. Thank you Comic Strip for a great night- My wife and I plan on coming back every year for our anniversary.
