Tips for Snodgrass & King Pediatric Dental Group*

April 11, 2013

I would NOT recommend this practice. These negative posts are fully accurate. This practice is all about unnecessary, aggressive procedures on children. They already put two crowns on my 8 year old when he was 5 years old. Today, they recommended two more crowns for him, insisted he needs multiple fillings and wanted to pull a tooth and put in a spacer. I have never heard of so many procedures on such a young mouth! Then, they recommended two caps for my 3 year old. Dr. Snodgrass was rough with my 3 year old, who finally told him, "You have to be careful!". I didn't stick around to hear about what the bill would be on all of this. I'm sure it would pad their pockets nicely. I won't be back. And by the way, I'm a physician, and my children's pediatrician who is very well-respected in the community has said the same thing about this practice -- "overly aggressive."

We have just recently been made aware that we could respond directly to these reviews. While we have answered some individually we want to let everyone who's had any concern regarding their treatment or care to contact us individually So that we can deal with their questions directly.

Every professional has their own treatment philosophy. We feel that when people come to us they are looking for the OPTIMAL care for themselves and their families. That is what we try to provide and recommend. It is up to each family to determine the level of care they desire and we understand and respect that different people have different requirement and needs. While we hate to see any bad reviews we invite you to visit our website to see testimonials from just a few of our thousands of very happy patients!

This is a great local dentist office in Franklin. I personally know the team that runs this office and they are very caring and passionate professionals. I read the other reviews and they didn't seem very accurate at all. I would completely recommend this business to friends and family!

I will NEVER go back. I had to have a crown and they wanted the full amount of the crown paid in advance to RESERVE the dentist..they use scare tactics and over charge..

Truly horrifying experience. Got ortho and dental for my daughter at Snodgrass King in Cool Springs. They recommended so many things that she didn't need. Worse than that, they hurt her every single time we were there. She is now getting braces for the second time to fix what Snodgrass King did to her with their braces. Like Oprah says...if you doubt...don't! Go ANYWHERE but here for your child's dental/ortho care and you will already be ahead no matter who you've chosen.

Awful ...!! Don't go here TIED DOWN CHILD w/o telling paren. Dr. Snodgrass may be a rich dentist with the biggest house in Brentwood, but I would not take my child there again. Several years ago, I took my young son there and they required that I wait while they took him away for what should have been a basic procedure. My son was terrorized by the inhumane restraining methods WITHOUT EVER COMMUNICATING THIS TO THE PARENTS. I understand that young children may be difficult to treat due to movements, but it should be a choice of parents if this method is used. I don't know what else they did without my knowledge or permission as well....

Wanted to do extensive work on my child for no reason. I took my 7 year old daughter to this dental practice for a cleaning. They told us that she had three baby teeth with cavities, which needed to be capped under anesthesia, and that she should have all of her molars (including baby teeth) sealed. I was not shown any xrays and we were rushed out of the office by the entire staff. I did manage to ask one question about the caps-were there any alternatives? They insisted that caps were the only option. I took her to a well-respected pediatric dentist in Nashville for a second opinion. The second dentist said that she absolutely did not need any work done. There were no visible cavities and her x-rays only showed a few very tiny areas that had the potential to become cavities, but he recommended a good flossing regime and regular cleanings to handle the problem areas. He also said that if the problem areas did require any work in the future, simple fillings would resolve the issue and chances are she would lose the teeth before reaching that point . He told us that insurance would not have covered any of the work Snodgrass-King wanted to perform and we would have ended up paying a large amount to do completely unnecessary work and put our daughter through the trauma of anesthesia. I am furious that Snodgrass-King wanted to put my daughter through so much, not to mention give her mouth full of metal, for nothing! If this review keeps another child from being mistreated by them, it will be worth the time I took to write this.

Beware!. this guy tried to tell me my 7 year old needed 4 crowns! when we got a second opinion, he needed none - just 2 fillings. This guy is known all over town for doing unnecessary work. I highly recommend taking your children elsewhere. The lobby is fun for the kids, but beware of the overpriced, unnecessary work on baby teeth no less!

bad practice. I've been taking two children to Snodgrass and King for over seven years, starting before they had a Spring Hill office. My younger son had braces with Wendy Oakes going on three years.

Apparently, the practice "let go" Dr. Oakes months ago and replaced her with Dr. Habeeb. My last discussion with Dr. Oakes included having my son's braces removed, as his gums and enamel were being damaged, and our plan had been impressions for retainer and removal on the next visit. I only found out a new orthodontist was there when I scheduled this last appointment with Dr. Oakes and was casually imformed she'd been gone for months. I never was notified in the slightest way that Dr. Oakes had been let go, and replaced with a new person. Dr. Habeeb's name was never mentioned, her picture never placed at the doorway. The office manager said "They'd been trying to tell people when they called!" I said they had patient addresses and was told they'd "decided not to send out a letter."

I've been waiting anxiously for four months, worrying about permanent damage, and listening to an assistant say "four more weeks" over and over again., and assuming Dr. Oakes and I were still on the same page. I had to tell the receptionist myself I wanted the braces taken off. The practice manager talked to me, and said "Well, he'll be evaluated today and if he's ready we will take them off." She also said "Didn't your son notice the different doctor?" Finally, after I voiced my complaints and mentioned a lawyer -no kidding- I was sent a message that Dr. Habeeb agreed with me, that because of "poor hygeine" the braces were doing more harm than good.

The *practice manager* came out to have me sign a release for early removal. I refused. I had to demand to see Dr. Habeeb. She refused to accept any responsibility for any of this, stating that she was just an employee. She said she introduced herself my my child, saying "Hi, I'm Dr. M iriam and I'm taking over from Dr. Oakes." She told this to a child laying down in a dentist chair and seemed to think this was adequate transfer of care. I asked if she was a licensed physician and she said "Yes." And then she had the nerve to say she was willing to finish the treatment, and I wasn't being forced to sign this release.

I am a retired physician myself. Nothing about this experience was adequate, and I suspect a good lawyer could make a case of it.

Not very happy. Will not go back.. As physician myself and a new patient , I understand need for baseline X-rays, but the office made no effort to get X-rays taken by another dentist not more than 2 months prior to my appointment. There is no concern about cost or excess radiation.

My hygienist and dentist were both very condescending and very rough.

When I went to schedule some follow up work (a crown) the office insisted on taking my credit card payment for half the expected copay before even making the appointment. Unbelievable--never before have I seen such a practice.
