A Favorite. I could not recommend a better restaurant. Very romantic, fresh, and unbelievable service. The food is to die for - any anniversary, work event, and family event... I always chose Red Pony.

Too Loud, Needs Background Music, Fewer tables upstairs. We thought this restaurant was extremely beautiful, with a really attractive decor. It's a shame, because it could be a great place to bring a date, were it not for the incredibly loud patrons, bad acoustics, close-together tables, and lack of background music on the upstairs level.

Perhaps we happened to be there on a particularly raucous evening, but that doesn't excuse the too-close seating and lack of background music. There were two loud tables: a ladies' nite out group of six across from us by about four feet (tolerable), and a date nite table of six directly behind us.

With the table of six directly behind us by about a foot, it was truly grating and unbearable.

To be one foot away from six loud, yelling back-and-forth, intoxicated people is not our idea of a pleasant evening. It made it impossible to talk to each other. No amount of "hairy eyeball" seemed to discourage these patrons. Nice baseballs hats, too. It's always great to buy an expensive dinner & stare at someone's dirty baseball hat.

Acoustical tiles, fewer tables, and soft background music on the upper level would be nice. Also, we didn't enjoy suddenly hearing the BOOMING BASS BEAT from the restaurant below that lasted the rest of the meal. Were we being deliberately tortured? Do they not care?

I definitely would never, ever bring a date here. I would, however, bring a loud, screaming party of drunks.

Oh, yeah, and the food and service was excellent. So sad.

WAY overrated!. I went to Red Pony for the first time last night. I sat on the patio which is nice. The menu is very limited. The food is OK. I ordered Salmon (medium well). The Salmon was still uncooked in the center when it was served to me. I informed the waiter and explained to him I wanted the Salmon cooked enough so it fell apart and flaked when you put your fork in it. He argued with me and said that was how it was normally cooked but I had ordered it differently...I guess he did not understand what "medium well" meant. Instead of apologizing to me for the miscommunication he argued with me. Nobody ever made an effort to apologize or take care of the issue. Instead I was made to feel it was my fault. After the check was given to me the waiter watched me through the window of the door like I was going to leave without paying. Once I began to pull cash out of my wallet he came out by the table and waited for me to lay my cash down to see how much I was leaving. I felt very pressured to hurry and leave and felt this was very rude of the waiter. I recommend taking your business else where.

Uneven. That's about the best I can say for this place after around 6 visits. it should be better than it is. The wait staff tries hard and the drinks are good, but the kitchen is maddeningly uneven. The steaks are usually a safe bet, but last visit they served a sautéed soft shell crab entrée that was inedible, and perhaps the single worst entrée I have ever been presented in a restaurant. On the plus side, the appetizer menu is usually pretty reliable and a dinner of just appetizers may be the safest way to go. I happen to love the downstairs dining room, although I see the comments on that are all over the map. They try really, really hard, to their credit.

Great drinks with Decent food.. We have been to the Red Pony a few times and I love the drink menu! The thing that bothered me was that we had reservations and they seated us an hour after they were made for. That was annoying. The staff was really nice and they have a great bar upstairs. The food is not the greatest but the drinks make up for it!

Thanks for your money, now leave.. My friends and I were in Franklin for just the day. We saw one set of a pretty good band at Pucketts' (great food & friendly staff), and walked down the street to see what else Franklin had to offer. And made the biggest mistake by walking into the Red Pony. Worst atmosphere ever!

After plunking down our money for drinks and appetizers, we received a weird vibe from the manager. One of our party took a walk-about to check out the rest of the place, was grabbed by the manager and escorted out the back door without explanation. We tried to find out what happened, but were given nonsensical answers.

Later we heard from an employee at the Mellow Mushroom (awesome Italian pizza joint, a block down) that the owner of the place has thrown several people out like that. The guy figured the Red Pony just wants a country club kind of clientele. (I have worked at country clubs, I think I know what he means).

We still don't know what we did to be treated like that. I guess the owner doesn't want to serve people like us.

My advice, try Puckett’s Restaurant and stay the hell away from the Red Pony.

Great food, Great bar!. I went to Red Pony with a small group of friends. It was an amazing experience. The food was tasteful and well presented. The bar tenders were amazing - great service, very friendly, and AWESOME drinks. I would highly recommend going for appetizers and drinks at the bar.

Cool location, good food small portions. The location and ambience is great here, the service is pretty good. I recently had my birthday party there for 20 + people. Depending on what you ordered depended on the value of your meal due to some of the food ordered had very small portions. $42.00 for a steak is alittle steep for Franklin, but the food is upscale and the drinks are great. Service was also very attentive

romantic & quaint, yet chic & sofisticated..... My wife and I enjoyed the Red Pony Restaurant on Feb 13 to celebrate Valentines Day. Our first impression was very good as my wife pointed out a country singer who would end up sitting one table over. Once the stars left her eyes we were able to enjoy an atmosphere that does not need any help from that of a big time country singer. The place had a great vibe that could fit in well in any big city, but is perfectly fitting for, and is a great addition to, the quaintness of downtown Franklin. The waitstaff was professional, knowledgeable and yet very personable. The particular appetizer we choose was a rare move for us, but we were pleasantly surprised! The chicken my wife enjoyed was....in here words..."the best chicken I have ever had!"

I must also point out my request for one of the only two window seats in the house was granted and added the perfect setting for our v-day celebration! The Red Pony is a GREAT find! Franklin has a definite jewel!

WOW... THE BEST IN TOWN!!!. OK... If you want amazing food, a great atmosphere, amazing service, in a great town... you have come to the right place. The food is UNBELIEVABLE... I go here at least once a week. I have had 2 parties here with friends and family, business meetings and I also drop in after work for a cocktail & appetizers. I have lived all over the world and would put this as some of the best food I have ever had!
