Nero's Grill

Featuring wood grilled steaks, wild game and fresh seafood

  • Locally owned
  • Private party rooms available
  • In the heart of Green Hills

From November 1962 until June 19, 1976, Nero's Cactus Canyon was one of Nashville's most popular and beloved restaurants. The location at 2122 Hillsboro Drive has changed names several times in the years since. History has come full circle with the opening of Nero's Grill, the site's latest occupant. And for the first time in 30 years, the building's operation will be back in the hands of the Griswold family, who built the original Nero's. "I've waited for this day for 30 years," says John Griswold, son of founder Nelson 'Nero' Griswold. "I grew up in that restaurant and always thought that I would take over the business from my father."

My husband and I tried Nero's after a Preds game yesterday for the first time -- what a treat! The corn cakes are fantastic (I could've eaten my weight in those alone), the ribs and steak and biscuits were both delicious entrees, and the mojito martini was to die for. The service and ambiance are great as well; all in all, this is a restaurant I can't wait to get back to. I'm looking forward to trying the steaks, stuffed potatoes, and pastas. My only regret was that I couldn't try everything I wanted on my first trip! Oh, and the oreo snowball was a great way to end the meal -- just enough, not too filling and old-fashioned yummy. Now for the big question -- can you bring this jewel to Murfreesboro? We need you!

Pros: Portion sizes are nice -- not too large.

Service was great: attentive without being overbearing, an error was fixed promptly and professionally. Great, classy, relaxing atmosphere. Food was wonderful: filet with blue cheese was melt-in-your-mouth satisfying.
