conscientious dentistry

I went for the first time, and I found their location and parking convenient. My hygenist was excellent, very thorough but didn't cause me a bit of pain, and I have sensitive teeth.
They accept my dental insurance, so the charges to me for a filling were very reasonable.
The only issue I had was that my mid-afternoon appointment was for 2:00 and I didn't actually get into a chair until almost 2:30. If they insist on timeliness for patients to show up, they should return the favor, as I had to leave work and return. In their favor they were apologetic about the delay and assured me it was unusual.
I recommend Dr. Gray and his practice with no reservations.
- Pros: Caring dentists
- Cons: Longish wait
A terrible dental Experience
by glad714 at Citysearch
I went to Dr. Gray as I had an broken tooth and my new dental HMO assigned me to Gray Dental. I was very grateful that they managed to squeeze me in, even though my tooth wasn't hurting (yet, that is). I went, they took a few x-rays and did a pretty reasonable exam. Then she told me that not only did I need my broken tooth crowned, but I needed all my other fillings replaced with crowns. And I needed another filling. I agreed to have the broken tooth crowned. Then they told me the cost: $800/crown--and that was WITH insurance. The price breakdown gave the normal price as TWICE that much--Almost $1500 per crown! They put on the temporary crown which was extremely painful and remained so for days. Actually, when I went to another dentist for a second opinion, I had to have it fixed. Thankfully, they did a good job putting on the permanent crown--no problems (yet). My second opinion dentist said I didn't need any fillings replaced, nor did I have any cavities in need of filling. He also said the price list was crazy--they slapped a "room charge" onto each procedure. Another friend of mine who is a dentist (but doesn't live in Nashville) also said that price breakdown seemed really high. Anyhow, needless to say, I won't be going back.
- Pros: Dr. Julie Gray was very friendly
- Cons: Rip-Off, very painful!
