Great Expierence..... Best time ever... Highly recommend. I had a problem with a overcharge on my credit card but the owner was so cool and handled the situation with the up most professionalism. The club experience was great; music and the atmosphere.
Bogus Reviews. Okay, I must be honest. I have never been to The Place but I have been thinking about "checking it out". I came to this site to read its reviews and came across the reviews written by "samsmiley" and "De2004". If I had to guess, I would say that the reviews are bogus and written by the same person. Both are very dramatic and seems a bit staged which leads me to believe The Place must be a pretty good operation if someone would be willing to go through so much trouble to sabotage its reputation. After reading the other 5 reviews, I have decided to "swing by" this weekend. I will let you know if I am thrown out!!!!
Fun for all. I went to The Place on Friday, Feb. 1 and had a great time. I read the 2 previous reviews and I was leery b/c I am white, but I had a fabulous time. I ate, drank, and danced the night away along with my friends. They had buffet style food that was free. The had 2 for 1 martinis. It was free to get in before 7. They were having an after work party which led into a late night party. I never felt unwanted or scrutinized because of my race. Some members of the staff were white. The club is non-smoking now, which is fantastic in my opinion. I am not sure what the 2 previous writers were talking about, but I wanted to give my opinion since it was drastically different then their's. Go and have fun!!
The New "Lunch Counter". If you are not black, you are not welcome at The Place. From harassment at the door by security, to yelling security guards, to patrons who blockade people from getting past them, to bartenders who refuse to sell whites drinks, this place is filled with racism on a level you've likely not experienced. If you want to take a chance that you'll leave in a bodybag while you get a first-hand taste of being physically and verbally violated for your race (with as much venom and violence as they can muster), then give The Place a try - you'll likely get what you were looking for. If you want to have a good time drinking and dancing with your friends, while not being harassed for your race, go somewhere else.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!. I went to celebrate my birthday and the event was absolutely horrible. First the bouncers gave away my pre-paid booth to the wife of a "celebrity" and then the bouncers made my friends leave the club because they were white. I am black and had about 30 black folks at the club. The bouncer decides that my 4 white friends should not be there and attempts to kick them out. In the end, the bouncers attack me and my friends and the whole club is shut down. I would not recommend this club to ANYONE. The club is not true to its word and their bouncers are overzealous. If you decide to go....BE CAREFUL and PRAY that you will exit unharmful!!! Also, please know that if you are not black, you are most likely not welcomed!!!
Everythiing. Stopped in on my way back to Florida from up North and it is in a great location not in the heart of the city it was a reasonable place to eat and drink. Great band and service and the management was great also meeting everyone at the door to tell us to have a great night. Next time in town I will be back.
Entertainment. When I come into Nashville I like to try different places and when I found this place it was the bomb. Great music and bartenders. They have a little tropical bar area and a cool blue bar and others but these two are the places I hung out. I felt comfortable, not out of place with a hundred young people like other bars. Keep it going and Shauna P you rock the club.
Great Band. The Band is beyond words, the layout is unique with great atmosphere, service and food was great. When I get out, this is my first pick now. I had a great time there with my friends.
great band -great food-great PLACE !!!.
Went with some friends last saturday nite.Just heard about it last week. our server said they've only been open a few weeks. "THE PLACE" looks great .Its intimate but not crowded. They have several different levels.; We started with drinks at the rectangular bar on the top level then moved closer to the band.
Several in our party orderered food. I had my standard hot wings . They offered them with garlic. they were outstanding-and BIG. We also had boiled shrimp, shrimp dip, open face prime rib sandwich and baby back ribs. All the food was sampled around and every one enjoyed it. The atmosphere was casual but with class. Looked like a bar in New York or Vegas. Blue lights everywhere give it a real nightclub feel.
The best thing about the place is the music . The band playing saturday was the house band. The name of the band is THAT BAND. They were great.Played everything from blues to funk to r&b to rock and roll. The whole band is great but the female singer Shauna is Fantastic. we stayed till the band stopped The service was really good We made reservations for next week and are bringing some more friends with us.
Massive rhythm 'n blues club bring strong Southern flavor and serious musical talent back to South Second Avenue..
In Short
Featuring a wide range of local and national musicians, this well-stocked blues bar boasts live music daily and a Cajun-influenced menu complete with New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp with the house's take on hoodoo dipping sauce. A fully-stocked 360-degree upper bar overlooks the sizable lower level's full stage and dance floor. A cool neon blue vibe permeates the main lounge, with the large outdoor patio occasionally stealing the show during warmer weather.
