Editorial Review for Tin Roof – by Andrew Kerr
In Short
This classic Southern saloon's attitude is boisterous, irreverent and fun as it cranks out live music seven days a week. The well-stocked bar boasts a variety of Atlanta's Sweetwater microbrews on tap and the hearty menu features standout wings and house specials like the Buffalo chicken quesadillas. The layout is decidedly crowd-friendly with large outdoor patio, spacious second floor balcony and flat-screen TVs from almost any angle.

When to GoShows start around 9:30pm most nights, but the place fills up quickly. Make sure to get there at least an hour in advance on the weekends.

I have no idea why anyone goes out in Cool Springs, but everything about going out in this area is sad. You are greeted by a cover charge that is always different, ranging from $4-10. You usually listen to a band with drowned out vocals, but I guess this doesn't matter if you are drunk. The crowd at this place is terrible. Since everyone knows you should not go out in Cool Springs, the only people that visit this place are people that are clearly too old to be going out. To me, its sad to see a crowd of people over 35. Its also sad to see women in their 50's dancing. Of course, you cannot knock a place for the people who go there, but in a bar, that’s half the fun. So, if you are old, and are seeking an older crowd, you've found the place. If you are younger, and want a more lively crowd, and a better band, go to the Tin Roof in Nashville. It is probably my favorite hangout spot around. They usually have a great band, playing good music. The only thing that bothers me about both Tin Roof locations is their foolish attempts to get rid of the crowd by turning on the lights at an early hour. As the other reviewer has said, the Cool Springs location turns on its lights by the time I get my first drink. The Nashville location has been known to turn its lights on full blast an hour from last call. Also, live music, especially at the cool springs location, stops long before last call. Bottom line: Do not visit the cool springs location unless you are old. And no matter what, go early.
Pros: one of the best bars in Cool Springs (that doesn't say much)
Cons: old crowd, closes early, turns lights on to get people to leave

First, I must let it be know that this bar has awesome queso, which is important to me. However, I'm a little frustrated with this bar. It seems as though they've taken their customer base for granted. There really isn't much to do in Franklin on any given night, and Tin Roof 2 knows it. Although the sign painted on the (adorably decorated) front window says that they are open until "really late" I have witnessed 1:00 am closings in which a dozen people were rudely pushed out of the bar by brightened lights and sweeping and bar stools placed on tables. Last night I was charged different amounts of $$ for the same drinks depending on which part of the bar I was standing at. My final complaint is about the cover charge. I seriously paid $4 to get into a bar where one lone man sat on stage and played his acoustic guitar. I could do this at home, except that we play the right chords at our house. I know that the bar has a captive audience, as it sits alone in the midst of Franklin strip malls, but I would like a little more respect. I feel taken advantage of and powerless, which is not my goal when I head out to a bar any given night.
Pros: Great queso, nice ambience.
Cons: Covers charged for crappy music, inconsistant bar pricing and poor closing choices.
