Editorial Review for Losers – by Jennifer Justus
In Short
A mixed crowd of songwriters in Wranglers and preppy college students hoist mugs of beer at this no-frills watering hole near Vanderbilt and Music Row. While Golden T and a pool table keep some occupied in the backroom, others conversationalists congregate near the pine walls and hardwood floors in the main bar area. On nights when live music isn't offered, the jukebox wails with music from Johnny Cash and George Strait.

The music is ok, but you really have to be a certain kind of person to enjoy yourself here. There are better options.
Pros: the music
Cons: everything else

This was the closest bar to my motel (Comfort Inn), so I stopped by here as my last stop two out of the three nights I was down in Nashville. They have reasonable priced PBRs. They have live bands peforming here on Wed - Sat. nights. Other nights, they stream music in from the satellite radio country station. Losers also has a semi-outdoor deck in the front where you can catch some fresh air from all the smokers inside. They also have a separate room in the back where their pool table is located. The people here seem to have a great time square dancing to the live music peformances. Even though the dance floor was very small, it was crowded. The bartenders were fine and service wasn't too bad. However, sometimes you need to wait a while for your drink on busy nights. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that the patrons here seem to be extremely "clicky" and are not too social with outsiders. If you're from out of town, they're going to know it and not pay you any mind. Unfortunately, I was there by myself and felt a little like an outcast here since nobody really wanted to converse with me. I think I had NYC written all over my face. Yes, the partrons seemed friendly, but just not social towards out-of-towners. Perhaps this is just a "southern thing" because being from NYC, I find people at the bars there much more social and always willing to strike up a conversation about anything. You'll have a much better time here as long as you bring a friend along with you. However, I would definitely go back to Losers next time I'm in Nashville. This was one of my favorite bars in Nashville for the music and the atmosphere, minus the anti-social patrons. Also, don't over-dress for this place. Everyone here wears jeans, flannel shirts, and overalls.
Pros: Great Live Music, Great Country Music Dive Bar, Outdoor Front Deck, Reasonable Prices
Cons: Very Clicky Crowd, anti-social towards out-of-towners
