In Short – Named for Rutledge Hill where it stands, this downtown music venue's nightly calendar crosses genres from indie rock to country. Up to 250 patrons pack against this cavernous space's stacked stone and exposed brick walls, shouting orders across the long copper-topped bar. When bands take the stage in front of a black-curtained wall, fans crowd the split-level room's standing area or sit at the black tables and chairs that are arranged for clear sight-lines.
Soon to be one of the best venues in Nashville

Great! This place is the first iun Nashville to compete with Mercy Lounge in my opinion. Sound was good, great atmosphere, nice outdoor area, and great lighting for the stage. Loved it.
My only complaint is that they weren't serving food... on a Friday night. That surprised me. So you may want to eat before going there.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Stage/lighting, Sound
- Cons: Parking, No food (during shows)
Best thing to happen to downtown :)

Well, I have heard about this place from my husband, then it turns out that the band he plays for, Eric Lee Band, had a show there on the 30th of December. This place is awesome, the waitresses are great, & friendly, the sound is wonderful and it is clean and smoke free....let me say that again...CLEAN and SMOKE FREE! It was great...if you need a place to go to hear the best local bands without the choking smoke and you need a clean place to sit then The Rutledge is where it is! Oh besides the Eric Lee Band, Sparkster and Audiostatic rocked the house!
- Pros: The local bands, sound system, clean everywhere, and no smoking inside
- Cons: none to think ok
my FAVORITE new music venue

Love it, love it, love it! I would never have gone, but a friend's band was playing there and I'm so glad I did...now I'll seek out bands playing there and maybe go by for lunch. The best new music venue in town, in my opinion...CLEAN, warm, inviting, the staff is friendly and act like they're actually glad to have your business as opposed to the "we're so hip we don't give a #$%@ whether you come or go" you get in (some) other places and THANK GOD it's non-smoking and I say that as a LOVE TO SMOKE SMOKER. But let's face it, SMOKING VENUES ARE GROSS and Tennessee/Nashville really, really needs to hop on the 2006 bandwagon. And they have a cool little place for smokers to go, out of the rain, outside. It's awesome...hardwood floors, brick walls, good food, I will be back and will bring friends and will tell everyone I know. (Oh, and free and EASY parking across the way -- can't beat that -- also unlike lots of other places we all know - and love.) Oh, and one more thing -- who knows why - but Toby Keith just kind of strolled in while I was there. Maybe he likes the Rutlege too...but I doubt he's the writing reviews on City Search type. Which is okay cause I gotta tell you -- I'm not the Toby Keith type. (It was weird, 'cause the band was rock n' roll...so...is TK a secret rock fan? Who knows.) So, it's also a place to run into country stars, if that's your thing! Try it!
- Pros: atmosphere, parking, non-smoking, staff, EVERYTHING
- Cons: acoustics but really...where isn't that a con but the Ryman?
