Tube Guitar Amp Service. Ferg's Amp Shop is the best. I've tried a few of the others in Nashville and always came away with issues.

Not so with Ferg's; fifteen years ago, my Silvertone 1482 needed a tune-up and a new power cord. Ferg did it right, and for fifteen years that Silvertone performed like a champ. Last week, however, it started to act-up a bit, so it was due for another tune-up - Ferg delivered again, and I'm sure it'll be another fifteen years (or more) before I need to bring it back.

Ferg also resurrected a silverface Champ for me. It now sounds like it should have the day it left the factory some 35 years ago. I'll not look elsewhere for amp repair. Ferg's Amp Shop is the best!

Best Service In Town!!!. I have used all the shops in and around Nashville for repairs to my guitar amplifiers, tube and solid state. Ferg's Amp Shop is the best and most reasonably priced. His bench rate is deducted from the repair, and he always gives you back the parts he has replaced. I even took my 50's tube stereo amp to him and he re-capped it and made it sound FABULOUS! Always courteous, friendly and fair...more techs should be like this.

watch out. This guy charges way too much. Period. Hold him to the quotes he offers. Make sure you deduct the bench fee when you pay. I wouldn't go so far as to call Ferg a crook, it's just that you need to be careful when dealing with him. Make sure you ask for any parts that have been "replaced".

I brought a twin to have the tubes replaced. I made sure to ask for the old tubes when I dropped it off. When I picked it up, he had boxed up the old tubes and NONE of the tubes he gave me were from my amp. It was VERY fishy.

Excellent Customer Service. I usually don't write reviews but after reading the review's for Ferg's Amp Shop I couldn't resist. I am a woman and recently visited the shop. I must say that I was NOT surprised to see just how high that Ferg's has been rated. I was in noway treated "weird". Ferg was very professional, customer oriented and even offered to remove things from my vehicle. I never felt uncomfortable threatened or belittled. He was a perfect gentlement that knows his business.

Only if you're a guy. A friend who needed an amp serviced recently called me while surfing her options in town. She was surprised to see this guy now rated so highly - previously, his ratings were very low, due to a number of poor experiences with local customers who also happened to be women.

Note that all the other reviews on this page are all from about the same date range, and are all from guys. My guess is that Ferg either had the old comments taken down, or had enough buds to post positive reviews to get the old reviews retired from his citysearch page. He's weird around women. Don't go if you're not a guy. It's not worth his best, wich is a weird vibe, or his worst, which is verbal abuse. Avoid.

Tube Amp Expert!. 1. My 35-year-old Music Man amp was sizzling, popping and humming when I took it to Ferg’s Amp Shop. He installed new parts (tube holders), did a cap job and re-biased the output tubes. While he had it in the shop, he re-covered the amp with electric blue Tolex, per my preference. Now the amp not only looks cool, it also has the sweet jangle that Leo meant for it to have.



2. My other 35-year-old Music Man needed – and got – all the repairs and upgrades described above, except for the blue Tolex. Besides the in-the-chassis work, Ferg carefully re-attached the worn connections to the factory-spec JBL d-110 speakers. The amp now sounds better than it ever did, and it sounded great when it came out of the box back in the mid-70s.



3. Next project: Ferg will upgrade my pristine late-60s Fender Princeton.

Best Amp Shop in Nashville. I'm a hobbyist who fried the reverb in my homemade amp so I took it to Ferg for a diagnosis. Other amp shops in town wouldn't sell me the replacement part that I knew I needed because they wanted to charge me a bunch of money and hold my amp for two weeks until they could get around to it. Ferg, on the other hand, looked at it right when I dropped it off, sold me the replacement part at a fair price, and also spent a considerable amount of time working with me to help me understand the problem and fix it once and for all. It's fixed, I'm happy, and my wallet didn't take the beating that it would have elsewhere. You can't ask for more than that. I will use Ferg for all future needs and I would recommend the same for everyone in Nashville!

Ferg's helped me out in a big way!. I called Marc Ferguson of Ferg's Amp Shop after much frustration of buying tubes and still having my amplifier not sound right. He was courteous and helpful with information. I was not able to repair the amp myself, so I took it to his shop. He had the amp up and running in a day, and only charged me the min. fee. I highly recommend his shop and services.

Great tech and a Kool shop!. I had never used Ferg's before, but I will use him again if I need service or want to buy tubes. He was courteous and friendly, and not overpriced. He has some very nice vintage amps and lots of vintage tubes he offers in his shop. My amp sounds great, I am very happy with his shop and service.

Marc Ferguson is a great tech!. After having my amp "worked on" at two other shops, I called Ferg as I had used him in the past. I did not expect a quick turn-around, but he had me up and running in two days and straightened out a problem I had with the amp that the other techs did not find. He was courteous, quick (faster than I expected), and only charged me the minumim bench rate. My amp sounds as good or better than it ever has. Thanks, Ferg! I will come back when I need an amp serviced or some tubes.
