Do not go to this Calypso. I love Calypso and go to the one on Elliston and in BelleMeade a lot, and I have occassionally gone to the one in Cool Springs...well never again! I went to pick up a salad the other night and the staff there was very rude. When I walked in they sort of ignored me talking to each other (there was only 1 couple in the restaurant, so it's like they were busy). Then I asked for the salad to be put into a bag to carry and the girl was extremely rude, like it was some big task for her to get me a bag. Then as I was leaving she yelled at me that the bag is going to stay in a landfill and how I'm damaging the earth. Now I recycle and try not to use plastic bags a lot, but sometimes you just need them. And what right does she have telling me, no excuse me, yelling at me what she thinks. Everyone has their personal opinions which is fine, but yelling at someone is not the right way to handle a situation . Terrible service!

Amazing Food!. I have been going to Calypso for years (Nashville Locations and Franklin) and I love it. I have to admit the very first time I went, I wasn't very impressed with the menu, so I didn't know what to order. You have to order the salads. Black Bean salad being the best. I know it sounds kind of weird what the ingredients are, but it is amazing! Now, if all you're going to order is the chicken, don't bother going. The salads are great, the black beans are great, the sauces are great, and the carrot cake is the best I've ever tasted. I'm not a vegetarian, but they have more vegetarian options than any other restaraunt that I have been to. And you have to remember it's Carribbean food. So don't think you're going to find a burger and fries (although they do have a Veggie Burger). I love the fruit tea, and no it does not taste like watered down orange juice. If you don't believe me about how great it is, try going in there at lunch and tell what all the people are doing waiting for a table!

Mad and still hungry!!!. My friend and I came here for lunch and we were grossed out by the food. We both ordered the chicken and you would have thought the sauce was actually mop water and the portions were cornish hen small. I am not exaggerating!!!

We also ordered the rice, and it was awful! It was cold and crunchy. Oh yeah! The cornbread muffins were terrible also. They were so hard we could have started playing softball with those things. Don't order the fruit tea, unless you expect to drink watered down orange juice. This was our first and last time coming here.

When my friend was asked how the food was, she was honest and modest about it. She said that she was not pleased and explained why. No effort on the part of Calypso Cafe was made to RIGHT THE WRONG!!!

We were very displeased and still hungry after eating at this place.
