Franklin >Sperry's Restaurant
waste of time and money. I would give it a zero if I could. The price reflects a restaurant which should care about providing a pleasant atmosphere. This place DOES NOT! We were next a table with a crying infant and at least two more noisy toddlers. Don't know why people would be so unsophisticated and inconsiderate as to think other diners at a restaurant in this price range would/should tolerate this, but this is, to me, where restaurant ownership should step in. When I complained, the manager said he couldn't do anything about it because the offending party might complain. Well, in this situation there are two choices: Cater to people who think it is acceptable to ruin the atmosphere for others, or cater to the people who possess enough intelligence and class to know children of this age, behaving in this manner, belong at McDonalds or at home with the babysitter. Speery's ownership obviously chooses the former. I would never risk wasting time or money again on this place. My home is pleasant and civilized and I can cook. Why would I want to spend time and money in a place which does not respect my right to expect a pleasant experience in their establishment?
Good Desert. The food is good. A little over priced. However the Bananas Foster is made table side and makes it worth the trip.
I just don't get it ....
I just don't get the 5-star reviews of this place. I've been there 3 times & the food is really good ... if I was at Logan's Roadhouse.
It's form over substance. My blackened ribeye was good portion, but a very average cut of meat. It wasn't very tender ... & blackened doesn't mean BURN salt & pepper on your steak. If you want a better cut of meat & a well seasoned steak go to Outback .... & PAY HALF THE PRICE.
That's what gets me, it's almost like they pass themselves off as an upscale restaurant because they charge upscale prices. For the price I prefer Ruth's Chris ... & you'll get a MUCH better cut of meat.
The only thing famous about the salad bar is that they put "Famous" in front of it on the menu. I couldn't believe my eyes .... It's PUNY. Want a better salad bar ... go to Ruby Tuesday's.
I'll give them this, the service is good. Atmosphere is nice, but it's noisy & hard to carry on a private conversation.
Overpriced. I have tried Sperry's twice now, and I'm not impressed. The steak is decent, but not worth the price. I've had the same or better quality at many other places for a better price.
Wonderful food & excellent service.
We booked Sperrys Restaurant in Cool Springs as the venue for our small wedding banquet. We hired a private room for our party of 14. Sperrys event planner Liz was very helpful & made sure everything was perfect for our event. The food was absolutely excellent, & the service efficient & discreet.
I will certainly return to Sperrys & would not hesitate to recommend it as a venue for private dining.
I was really looking forward to eating at Sperry's because I had heard that it had a good reputation. My parents had eaten there before and liked it. My mother's birthday was coming up, so we decided it would be a good time to check it out.
We booked a private room for 5pm, which was opening time. The front door was locked at 5. I called and the woman who answered said, "The door is open. You can come in." Ok... I guess they figured out that they hadn't unlocked it when no one was coming in the door.
I waited in my car until the mad rush of overweight patrons ran for the door as it opened. Apparently they had all missed meals that day and couldn't wait to be first in line for the salad bar (followed by steak, I'm sure).
The wait staff was cordial and helpful. They did allow us to bring in our own cake for the event, which not all venues allow. That was part of why they earned one star.
They did bring out the kids drinks and food first, which also earned them points...but that's where it ends. The macaroni and cheese was actually Kraft from the box...which they resold for TEN DOLLARS. I guess they missed the sale at Kroger.
We had 3 tables of guests in our private room, and the food for one of the tables didn't arrive until well after the first table was finished (30 minutes?). Someone came around and apologized, but they didn't attempt to compensate in any way through a freebie of any kind. (Earlier in the day at Bosco's, our appetizer was just a few minutes late and they took it off the bill without us complaining about it at all.)
The food was ok. The asparagus was overcooked, the broccoli tasted funny (and I eat a LOT of raw and cooked broccoli at my house...never had any that had this flavor...and it was just steamed), and the crab was tasteless. The meat was fairly good.
After we were finished eating and the tables were cleared, about every 15 minutes one or two waiters would come in the room and just stand there. They were obviously pressuring us to leave. Why? We had a private room. They obviously weren't going to use it again that night, and we had just spent over $800 for the "privilege" of being there, so why the pressure?
I will say that they have done a great job of taking a strip mall spot and making it look like a nice restaurant inside.
Will I recommend it. Nope. Will I ever go back? Not if I can help it. For the life of me, I don't understand what people like about it.
Poor service - OK food.
Six of us met for a business dinner - very undemanding group. Sperry's has a great 1970's "steakhouse feel (complete with the serve yourself salad bar). The service was poor at best; drinks constantly empty, & a lack of attention. I felt like we were bothering them by taking a table.
My steak was cooked correctly but the sides were cold/room temperature by the time they made it to the table. Several restaurants in the Franklin area offer a better experience, better steak, and an overall more enjoyable evening. I can't say I'll be back.
Service, drinks. Hesitant to go, I was easily made to feel welcome in a very crowded bar that I questioned sitting at. Busy bar, great bartender; Tracy, I think. Anyway, great food, great service, great bar. I certainly understand why they remain a place to be; although I personally DON'T like a salad bar... If you're unfamiliar with the menu or not, recommendations from the bartender seemed to be the right way to go. Keep it up!
Love, Love, Love Sperry's!. I go to Sperry's whenever there's a special occasion to go out or If I plain just want a good steak. Their wine list is by far the biggest in the are Bananas Foster is THE BEST I crave it all the time : ) and It's about time someone in Franklin started taking reservations I hate going somewhere to wait an hour then to be rushed out! I always make a reservation and I'm NEVER dissapointed! :)
What a Great Restaurant. Clean, charming, fireplaces, great food, good service plus affordable for fine dining. I simply love to go to Sperrys. It is so unlike any restaurant in the Nashville area. Just can't get enough opportunities to go back. This has been my favorite eatery for years. You can depend on the food to be top of the line,,,,,always. I have not eaten at Franklin location, but feel sure it will be just as great
