Not enjoyable – My husband and I have eaten there many times when it was Eddie George Sports Bar. We went for an early dinner before a show at Bridgestone Arena – we were there before 6 – and were seated in a booth by the bar. I had the fish tacos and my husband had a burger with fries, with drinks. While the food was still on his plate, two different servers asked if he was through. He said no. I was nibbling on his fries when one of the servers came by and just picked up the plate, no questions asked. Several of them kept walking by and looking at my plate as if willing me to hurry up. The check was left “no hurry”. But she did come back and open it before we had the money in the holder and commented “oh”. We were out of there in 30 minutes. It’s not like the place was busy; there were a lot of empty tables and the entire patio was empty.
None of the staff was friendly or welcoming. “Eat fast and get out” seems to be their motto. If you want to eat a relaxing meal and enjoy the food forget this place. We will not be returning.
Buyer Beware – My wife and I wanted to watch the Mets game. We tried Broadway Brewhouse but after ordering a drink there, they discovered they didn't have the game. They comped our drinks, because they know how to treat a customer. Remember that detail!
We went to The Sportsgrille. On arrival, we were told that they had the game and directed to a table where the game would be showing. 15 minutes pass. We ask our waitress what's going on. She says she'll go check. So we order our food, anticipating being able to watch. Another 15 minutes. A random staff member walks by and asks about our Mets gear. We reply and ask where the game is. The DirecTV satellites are down, we are told, but he'll gladly put the game on when they're back up. Great! The satellites come back on. Yay!
Oh, wait, now they don't have the game. The manager swings by to inform us of this development. When we tell her that we'd been told by three people specifically that they would have our game, she indicated "well, that was a true statement, we have all the games." I don't know whether she's confused about the definition of the word "all," "games," or "true," but in point of fact, saying essentially "we don't have this game but it is true that we have all the games" seems, I don't know, perhaps contradictory. We express our disappointment.
To my surprise, we receive a bill with all items ordered. We inform our waitress that this seems a bit, I don't know, insane, given how we were basically strung along during the whole process and only advised finally that they never had the game in the first place AFTER we had eaten. She goes to talk to the manager. The manager sends her back and offers a 15% discount.
Frankly, I wish we hadn't accepted that, because 15% off for having been strung along like this seems like a slap in the face -- and the manager didn't even have the kindness to come to our table and apologize.
They've certainly lost two local sports fan customers today.
