We WON'T go back!.
My boyfriend and I was there on the 16th and had an awful experience. He had some extra money that day and wanted to treat me to a nice dinner. We both had Fulin's once before and the food was decent and the service was good. We were seated by the manager as soon as we walked in.
We ordered a couple cocktails and an appetizer and ordered our entrees. After waiting about 15 minutes we finally get our appetizer. We were both starving. About 25 minutes after we got our appetizers our food still had not shown up. We had ordered a second round of drinks (that was a wait too since we almost went to the bar to get the drinks ourselves). So after some complaints to our waitress, she explained that she has been having a horrible time with the cooks about her food and the problem has been going on all night. She proceeded to cry a bit in frustration.
Right before we were about to just leave and pay for our drinks our food arrived. It's almost been an hour.... so I bit my tongue and just decided it was better to eat it and leave. Well, my first bite of food was barely luke warm. I asked for the manager and the same person who seated came back. We told him about our wait, our lack of service, and the waitress experience with the cooks. He suggested that he takes my food back and will warm it on a wok (I'm chinese). He did not offer any sort of apology nor concession. At that time my boyfriend told him we were leaving. We did not come to a decent restaurant to wait this long and spent $40 on liquor so that our food can be cold.
Please take my advice; there are better places to dine!
Quickly became "our restaurant"!. We love Fulin's! The food is great with a balanced selection. We especially love the "Joy Roll" and their "Kung Pao Chicken". We are always seated promptly and love the service. The staff recognized us on our 2nd visit and since then we have become "regulars". They even closed off the bar for us so we could host a private function (no charge). Modern, relaxed decor that is romantic enough for a date but also great for a group. My only complaint is that the "to go" food is usually a little trimmed down so I highly recommend eating in as opposed to getting food to go.
WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. It has taken me a full week to try and come up with words to describe my dining experience at Fulin's. And yet I can only come up with WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! And I do mean ever. Our group of four ate there last Saturday night. We were seated in 5 minutes and at the time we felt lucky to not have to wait. Now I know it's because no one else wanted to eat there. First of all we waited about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken and another 20 to actually get them. After ordering and then subsequently waiting an additional hour for our APPETIZER we began to ask for assistance. During this time, our drinks were NEVER refilled. The hostess asked the manager to come by our table. She didn't have anything nice to say, only "what did you have?" We got our appetizer soon after. Thirty minutes later two people at the table got to eat their meals. Finally after 2 full hours at the table we again stopped someone walking by and asked about the remaining food. The manager again came to the table and we were met with hostility and attitude. Needless to say we were speechless. I was beyond hungry and upset to the point that I was repulsed once the food finally arrived. And the best part is that the manager refused to compensate us for all the mistakes and waiting. She treated us like we didn't even have a valid issue. I think she mistakenly felt that we were only complaining to get free food. I felt judged and disrespected. Sickness waived over me after handing over $70 to that woman and this restaurant.
Terrible dining and customer service experience.
Unfortunately, it only takes one awful experience to offset any good experiences at a restaurant. I have been to Fulin's about four times in the past few months. The atmosphere is nice and the food is pretty good. Recently, I went with a group of four coworkers. It ended up being one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. Because of this one experience, I will never go back. Service was bad across the entire time of our meal. This was not due to lack of staff or the restaurant being excessively busy.
The experience was capped by a wait of well over thirty minutes to get our check paid. After much insistence, we were finally given our cards back and were told that we wouldn't be charged. The next day I had two separate charges totaling $64 on my bank card for what at most should have been a $9 lunch.
Our experience went like this: excessive wait for drinks, excessive wait for food orders, excessive wait for food (which came in waves spread out over about ten minutes instead of everyones at once), excessive wait for check, excessive wait for our cards back, and cards getting confused and bills being charged to the wrong people. While we were waiting for the checks, I also saw one of the waiters spoon something out of someone's soup while they were coming out of the kitchen. I found that quite nasty as well.
If you have the patience of Job, feel free to check this place out. Otherwise, I would recommend going somewhere else.
Pleasant Surprise in Nashville. My fiance is Chinese and we recently moved to Nashville from the Los Angeles Area. Being that he is very used to exceptional Chinese food, he has been extremely disappointed in what Nashville had to offer. After many disappointments we finally went to Fulin's and he had low expectations since it seemed like it may be a little to nice to have authentic Chinese food. To our surprise it was wonderful. The food is the most authentic we have found and they even had a special Chinese menu all written in Chinese with even more traditional dishes that are not typically ordered by the average American. We were quite impressed and now frequent their often. It can be slightly pricy but well worth it. The sushi is also above average. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is looking for an authentic meal.
An oasis of great food in a quiet atmosphere. Love this place! I'm fixated on the garlic shrimp - hard to find this at a lot of Asian restaurants. Always plump, large, cleanly devined shrimp, plenty of veggies and great rice. Good lunch menu selection. Beautiful decor, great service. Prices decent for the area. Sushi lovers I know like the freshness and selection, as well. Something for everyone who likes any type of Chinese. Get ya some! : )
AMAZING fresh delicious food, excellent service delightful atmostphere!!!!!.
we enjoyed FULIN'S amazing dining experience while visiting in april, and have been talking about how wonderful it is ever since!!!!!!!
as soon as our house here sells we're going back!!! for good!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Customer Service/Atmosphere. I think the service is awesome. Everyone is attentive and friendly. Also, we did not have to wait long for our food. The food is very delicious. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a variety of Asian cuisine. This is a great date spot. Check it out ASAP!!
A Brentwood strip-mall delight: tasty Chinese and Japanese cuisine in a comfortable, upscale setting..
Local shoppers and Nashville residents who are looking for more Asian food options gather for a menu of sushi rolls and classic Chinese dishes. The traditional decor of large vases and sculptures gets a modern twist with slate tiles, waterfall panels and a curved wall that defines the bar area. Favorite dishes include the crispy shrimp with honey walnuts special, Mongolian beef and the Green Dragon roll with crab, eel and avocado.
Best Chinese food in Nashville, hands down.
Being born and raised in the SF Bay Area I like to think I know good chinese food. I have been disapointed time and time again since I moved to Nashville over a year ago. The lack of any type of good ethnic food is discouraging. Well not any longer.
Fulins was an amazing suprise. I went expecting to be disapointed, not even close. The food rivaled San Fransisco's China Town.
I had the Sesame Chicken with Hot & Sour Soup to start. The soup could have been a bit hotter and a bit more on the sour but all in all very good. The Sesame Chicken was lightly breaded (big plus) and very tasty. The Fulins Fried Rice was beyond good with large pieces of chicken, beef, and full size shrimp not the tiny bay shrimp.
My girlfriend had the Eggplant in garlic sauce. The eggplant was chinese eggplant and was tender and tasty, the sauce was very good and I will be getting the beef with garlic sauce next time I eat there (which will be very soon).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone that would listen. If you eat there and do not like it, you need to see a Dr. and have your taste buds checked.
Please do yourself a favor and visit this place ASAP.
Great decor inside, very comforting and calming. Great service, and all in all great experience.
