Excellent food, nice people. I would have given them 4.5 starts if I could. Really good food and a great bargain. Service is good - everyone is friendly and they are helpful with the menu. Seemed like almost everyone eating there was Indian or Middle Eastern - always a good sign in my mind when eating ethnic food. The only knock is that the room itself is about as bad as it gets visually. But, if you are with good company it's not really a distraction. I will be back often!

Best dosa in the US!. My fiance took me here for my birthday and I have to say this is the best dosa I've had since leaving India and it was at par with really good restaurants in India! I know the ambience isn't perfect but we didn't care. I had my favorite paneer rava masala dosa and my fiance had their masala dosa. Both were excellent. We have found our staple restaurant in the Nashville area!

Best South indian food. If you are from South India, you would know exactly what i am talking about. I have heard about this restaurant for a while but never tried it. I took my date once there and the food was delicious. Their South indian food; Dosas and Iddlies are very authentic. mmm..mm.mm. Just loved it. The service was a little slow but they were polite. It is also an inexpensive place to eat and that is a great plus. I have been there a few times after my first encounter and i would definitely recommend this place for some great south indian food.

The best Indian food I've had so far. I've been to almost all the area Indian restaurants and Woodlands is by far the best I have had. They bill themselves as vegetarian. However, you don't have to be vegetarian to fall in love with this restaurant. There is so much to choose from , it will please anyone. The lunch buffet changes daily and the service is really good. The decor may not be too hot, but it really doesn't matter once you've tried the fare. I do the lunch buffet at least once a week because it has such a great selection. I have done dinner twice and both times it was exceptional. OK...I sound like a commercial. It just seems that so many places have poor help or are overpriced these days...it is refreshing to find this place.

yum. The woodlands is delicious. Great service, generous portions and interesting choices. If you're bringing someone who isn't sure they're into vegetarian food, order #18 the Iddly Manchurian, its really delicious... and just reminiscent of meat to get them on board.

Yum, yum, yum!. I love food from India. Woodlands is where I go when I need a great meal with perfect flavors. Over the past decade I have been trying Indian food all over the nation and Woodlands is as good as I've found anywhere.

Great!. This is a treasure in the Nashville restaurant scene that I am happy to have found.. Lovely vegetarian Indian dishes, you will not miss the meat. I have not had such attentive service at a restaurant in a very long time. Arrive for lunch, and you will be able to sample many different dishes on the buffet.

Awesome Indian. We've been going to Woodlands since it first opened. The food is great - especially the dosas and the uppathams and the mushroom masala - and even the pickiest kid will love the fried iddlies. The lunch buffet is something special - they have a different menu every day, so you can go every week and eat different foods. The servers are knowledgeable, and will steer Westerners away from "Indian" hot dishes that would be too incendiary.

Woodlands is also a very friendly and welcoming place. When we don't go for a while, the hostess makes a point of welcoming us back, which is a nice feeling. As others have commented, the spartan decor doesn't detract from the dining experience. A couple of reviewers remarked on the presence of kids as a negative. Personally, I don't find that to be the case. With rare exceptions, the children eating at Woodlands are well-behaved and I find it a welcome change to see kids enjoying exotic food and not demanding chicken fingers. Woodlands isn't an elegant dining experience by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a homey place, even if you're not from Kerala.

Can't tear myself away.... Since discovering this lovely eatery about a year ago, I have needed my Woodlands fix at least every week. Who cares about what color the walls are or how the tables are arranged - this place is ready to cater to every need my mouth and stomach can express. While I do believe that southern Indian food will not be to everyone's taste, it can help to do a little reading about what spices are used in the cuisine and how they are used in the cooking in order better appreciate what you are eating. Thanks to Woodlands, I rarely want to eat out anywhere else! I can't find another place in this city where vegetarian food abounds (and I'm not a vegetarian) and where I can walk away completely satisfied without overstuffing myself.

Thanks Woodlands!

very impressed.. i had never had indian food before, but was looking forward to trying something i KNEW was vegetarian. i first went for dinner and was kind of put off because everything sounded the same and we didnt know what to order. i went back a week later for the lunch buffett. that was the best decision i ever made. everything on the buffett was labeled, so you know what you are eating. the staff even marks on a take out menu what was on the buffett so you are prepared for trips when the buffett is not available.

def. recommended. i am addicted to indian food now!
