Can't say enough good things about Peter's! – My family has been dining with Peter ever since he worked at Miyako in Brentwood. We were so glad when they finally decided to expand the restaurant and open up seating as well as expand the sushi bar.
I usually get a few rolls, the salmon roll being my favorite, and alternate with Pad Thai. Peter's has by far the best sushi and pad thai in Nashville, I really can't say more than that.
Service is reasonably fast, and now that they added the waiting area, the restaurant is not as crowded. More often than not though, people have spilled out onto the sidewalk outside - there is usually a large crowd waiting to get in.
Great Sushi, Reasonable Prices, Trendy Atmosphere – I've been in Nashville 8 years, and I've eaten sushi just about everywhere, but I had never tried Peter's. I really liked it. The pieces of nigiri were huge--well worth the $. My Mom had the Pad Thai which was delicious as well. I only ordered sushi, and it came w/soup salad, and we each were given 1/2 egg roll for no extra cost. The sushi did take a while, but it was worth it. Plus, I had the soup, salad, etc to snack on while I waited. I ordered 1 roll, and there were more pieces than I could dream of eating. This restaurant was just remodeled, and the de'cor is so cute. It's a very well-rounded sushi/thai restaurant that's great for lunch, a date, or family outing. There are some whole-in-the-wall places to get good sushi for a little less $, but at that point you're sacrifcing atmosphere. I totally recommend Peter's!
HAIR IN SUSHI !!!!!!!!!!and cold food! – Went to Peters for dinner on Friday 12/05/20008. Ordered crunchy shrimp sushi, basil beef, pad-thai, and tum yum soup. The sushi came out about 30 minutes after we ordered. Ate a couple of pieces before we realized there was a long hair in one of the sushi pieces. Told the waiter and she just took the sushi way quietly so that other customers did not notice. Didn't offer any solutions. Told us she wouldn't charge us for the sushi. About 10 minutes later she brought out two bowls of tum yum soup (I thought she was making up for the hair in the sushi) ... right before I was about to eat she comes by and says that this was for another table as we only ordered one bowl. She grabs the two bowls of tum yum soup and gives it to the table next to us... How wierd.. I would not have eaten soup that someone almost put in their mouths. About another 15 minutes later, she brought out the entres which was cold. Not sure if I'd wanna go here again.
Peter's serves wonderful, fresh sushi – Peter's Sushi in Brentwood has changed! Not to worry, those who have frequented Peter's Sushi
and Thai for the past 3-4 years, the exceptional quality of food and service is still every bit as good
as it has been from the start!! Brentwood Place Shopping Center has undergone a facelift and some
of the longtime merchants have had found some extra room in the restaurant thanks to a welcome remodel.
Peter's now offers an expanded dining room beautifully painted in a lovely melon green on
one wall and a pomegrantie red-orange on the other wall. Pictures of flora & fauna indigenous
to Tennessee and perhaps Japan adorn the walls throughout. On a special night out for me and
my wife we had a desire for some good sushi and were not disappointed! We started our dining
with deep fried wontons filled with crab and a cream-cheese filling. Our entrees were served with
hot miso soup & salad. Several Japanese/Sushi restaurants we have visited in recent times
have NOT served soup and salads with entrees, I find this addition to be a wonderful part of the
meal, but also a show of appreciation from our hosts. My wife chose two standard rice rolls of cruchy
crab and California roll, and instead of soy sauce she again requested for dipping the Special Volcano
Sauce or Spicy Mayonaise sauce.
As it had been a while since I had sushi, I had a taste for Sashimi. The chef chose some fresh,
suculent selections of Tuna, Fatty Tuna, Yellowtail, and Mackarel garnished with cucumber,
daikon (actually shredded Japanese radish) & shredded carrot. I found every bite to be delicious
with just a light dip in soy sauce and perhaps a bit of wasabi. Our server was very kind to keep my
hot tea cup filled while I ate.
There are many other wonderful rastaurants in the area, but we chose Peter's because we knew
the atmosphere, the service and the food would meet and exceed our expectations
Trendy restaurant; Not worth your time – Take it from a world traveler and food critic. Peter's is not really worth your money. It wasn't bad food by any means, but it wasn't stellar cuisine either. I shelled out $50 for two people, yet we had a meal inferior to some of the cheap Thai restaurants along Nolensville Road.
The sushi was soggy, not firm (a 7 out of 10). The Thai cuisine was a mid-8. Pretty tasty, but definitely not mind-blowing flavors as some chefs are capable of concocting. The sauces were very flavorful, probably to cover up the poor quality of meat inside. The only thing that really impressed us were the egg rolls, $1.25 each garnering a rating of 9.5. But despite its trendiness, its lively atmosphere and its vivid presentation, there are many places better in Nashville. Good food, just not great.
Lunch consistency – We have been going to Peter's for a five years. We like the new location a lot and also the staff. We get great service, but lately have been having issues with food quality at lunch. We have had poor Red Curry, Green Curry, fried rice and also the Chicken Teriyaki was way over cooked and salty. Seems that there is no consistency at lunch with some foods and the taste varies so guess that maybe the different cooks are using different recipes/ingredients. Also, some times we get a regular portion, other times it seems like the portion is cut back and very small. May be wise for the owners to work with cooks to insure that every plate coming to our table is the same in quality and also quantity. We like Peter's and will continue to come as the folks out front are really friendly and give wonderful service. We just hope the cook gets back on track
for lunch and follows the old recipes that we have enjoyed over the past five years.
Mediocre sushi, horrible service – I went there tonight for the first time in the new location...I didn't really enjoy my first dining experience at Peter's, but with all the hype, I thought I'd try it again. The wait wasn't the problem - being served after several other tables that were seated after us was. That was only the beginning of a night of very bad service. All in all, the sushi was mediocre at best. I'm a Gulf Coast girl, where the sushi is out of this world. The place to go for comparable sushi in Nashville is Wild Wasabi in Cummins Station. Friendly owners and staff and the freshest fish in town. Every time I go somewhere else I only regret it.
Best Sushi in Nashville, if not ever! – My family has been loyal customers of Peter's for 15 years, and hands down it is the best sushi ever. Peter's take on the Dragon Roll is addictive and delectable and the sauce he uses for the Volcano Roll is amazing. Also, if you are a fan of edamame, Peter's got the best. I have been to almost every sushi restaurant in town, and Peter's is hands down the best out there.
Great Sushi – Peter's is normally very busy, everytime I have been there I have had to wait, but it's well worth it. Well priced and a great variety with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend
Top Shelf Sushi Bar!!!! – What a great restaurant! Not the chain atmosphere, but one of family. Beautiful new location with more seating and staff. Our food was outstanding along with the great service. Nice to see Peter and his wife both working and making sure all the customers are well taken care of. Expect to take some time when you go, as you are getting a custom meal made by an artist. So, sit back, relax and enjoy. Best sushi bar in town plus the entrees are outstanding. What are you waiting for????
