I just wanted to let you know how well M is doing. She is happy and balanced, and her senior year at school has been phenomenal. And we are both grateful for the help she received here. Thank you, L I am sure I will be jinxing the situation but I think R is just doing
great. We are all getting along very well…she’s been helpful and cheerful
and spends more time with us. Her grades were awesome. I am
very proud of her and so thrilled to see her at this point. Can she be considered a success story yet? -D C has done well on her own at her Dad’s. We have been talking daily, she came to dinner with the family and that went very well. C even called her sister to simply talk. I told her that she was doing well handling the responsibility of a house and school. -L Our son, Sam, went from being a wonderfully fun, light-hearted boy to a moody, angry, obese, angry ten year old...Dr. Starr suggested we try neurotherapy. Dr. Starr provided us with literature and he and his staff spent time answering our questions and educating us. Dr. Starr had accurately diagnosed and treated our son; It has been three years since we first walked in to Dr. Starr’s office. Sam is off all medications and has been officially discharged from Dr. Starr’s care. He is the fabulous boy he once was….just older and wiser. We are filled with gratitude for Dr. Starr and his staff. He gave us back our son. -K Dr. Starr Thank you for your referral of S. In her own words, “has not felt this good” since childhood. Daniel B. Kalb, MD, MPH, FAAFP Saw P yesterday: you have performed miraculously! Great work! -D A quick update on H, today is day 6 with no medicine!!!!! You may have to wait to hear H’s heart felt appreciation, we thank you today from the core of our hearts, you are our friend, you have brought joy back to our family, and we love you. May God Bless You, I look forward to our next visit, - R

My son began Neurofeedback at 17th Avenue Psychiatry and completed nearly 30 sessions. After seeing no improvement, my husband and I traveled to Austin to get a second opinion from an established Neurofeedback provider. The clinician in Austin stated that my child was not a candidate for Neurotherapy due to his diagnosis and lack of response to treatment. He even consulted with other Neurotherapy providers and reported that he felt it was not apprpriate to treat my son with Neurofeedback. When I reported this information to Dr. Starr, he insisted that we continue neurofeedback and threatened to discharge my son as a patient if we did not. While I am not professional in the field of Neurotherapy, I have done quite a bit of research on Neurofeedback. I have found that it is not for everyone. In fact, every book I've read and every neurotherapist I have spoken with (4 not including Dr. Starr) has stated that not everyone is a candidate for Neurofeedback. My husband and I are friends with 3 other families. whose children are former patients at 17th Avenue Psychiatry, all 3 had a similar experience. If you are a patient of Dr. Starr's, please check his facts and get a second opinion before proceeding with his advice. There has been several occasions where I have checked on the information Dr. Starr has given me and found it to be false!! When I confronted him about this, he completely dismissed it and claimed he didn't say that. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!
Pros: Josie, the dog
Cons: Dr. Starr's quality of care and limited knowledge of Neurotherapy
