GREAT PLACE

awesome record store, the vibe is nice. huge selection of new vinyl, and sort of moderately small but QUALITY selection of all sorts of genres... found Children of Bodom to Drum Break Kits and lots of funky electronic music. don't forget th front of the store has a lot of vinyl as well.
The staff here is extremely friendly, normally i don't care but it really does make you wanna come back here. Prices are average but you can find some deals.
Chill place.

I read about this place on the internet when I was searching for a record store in Nashville, and I went down that day to try it out. One of the coolest places in Nashville. There is a great selection of music, the staff is friendly and never shy about conversing with you. I've been there 3 or 4 times since then and enjoyed every trip. On one of my trips down there, Connor Oberst of Bright Eyes was performing, how cool is that? Overall, I extremely enjoy visiting this shop.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Music Selection, Outgoing Staff
- Cons: Parking isn't the best...
This place is cool

I went here recently to see a band in the store, which was totally freakin sweet. Plus, they serve beer - what more can you ask for huh? I mean, what with the digital thing and all i don't know how much longer this sort of thing will last, but it was cool anyway.
- Pros: Beer
- Cons: parking
Best place in town

Grimey's is one of those music shops that you love to browse. Lots of variety, and the staff is super knowledgeable about all of the music. They have mainstream stuff, too, as well as vinyl, and some really old school music that will make you wonder how they still carry this stuff. The in-house performances are amazing, and they've had bands like Hammock (who doesn't do live shows) play there, as well as listening parties for bands that are kick-ass, but would never play there. During these shows, you generally get treated to beer (ID required), which is great. If you haven't been to Grimey's yet (or the Basement for that matter), you should definitely check it out.
- Pros: Great selection, lots of places to listen to music, good prices.
- Cons: Hard to find a place to park
I'll try here again in the future

My day in Nashville of shopping for records included a stop at Grimey's. It was my third or fourth trip to this store, and this visit (June 15) was cut way short because they were having an artist appearance in the store when I arrived. They have a small corner in this store devoted to their main used vinyl section, and it was completely blocked off by tables and totally inaccessible. I have nothing against in store appearances by artists, it's just that this place is too small to sell music and have artist appearances inside the store at the same time. I left disappointed but not discouraged, as I had two other stores I wanted to visit this day anyway. My previous trips here resulted in buying two or three records each time. This store might have a cooler atmosphere to some people than other Nashville record stores, and drinking beer in the store is allowed, but in my opinion their selection of used albums is average and I probably would like this place better if I was younger, buzzed, and just looking for somewhere to hang out.
