Editorial Review for Firefly Grille – by Jonathan Flax
In Short
Hidden in the winding Bandywood strip in Green Hills, this restaurant features a modern, whimsical decor with playfully painted dining tables and oblong and oddly shaped wall mirrors. Patterned curtains separate the room into several smaller dining areas, which creates a cozy atmosphere. The menu, which rotates daily, leans toward Cajun-spiced seafood. The spicy salmon soup and gumbo are appropriately potent with hints of eye-watering cayenne pepper.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoIf you are expecting the upscale service and menu of previous tenant Deer Park Grille, think again. Firefly Grille is a much more casual environment with a lax dress code.

We ate at Firefly for a date night recently. The ambiance is a little strange and our waiter was very awkward with us. Maybe it was because we were the only people under 40 in the room? Who knows. The food was delicious, but shortly after we left my husband became very ill with stomach cramps and general intestinal discomfort. We had cut our date night short and go home! He was sick all night and I wasn't feeling so hot either. Even though it was tasty, it wasn't worth ruining our night. If we go again, I'm getting a salad!
Pros: Nice big portions of seafood
Cons: $20+ entrees in a $10 atmosphere

My husband and I went on Valentines night because it was the 8th place we called, and finally got a reservation. The atmosphere was kind of artsy and a little tacky with Christmas lights, but it had a cool vibe. I like looking at the autographed pictures of country stars on the walls. We tried the mac-n-cheese (oddly) for an appitizer, and it was wonderful. My entree was the crabcakes which were not too greasy and crisp on the outside. I loved it ! The chocolate torte was an amazing desert with serious chocolate goodness. My only beef was they sat me next to a door and the draft was quite cold, and I was fighting a cold. Another notch on my belt of Nashville eateries I've experienced, and definitely a good one!
